After generating the second-fastest lap-time in all of 250MX qualification, Kawasaki's Ty Masterpool appeared ready to excel in the moto's that followed as well. A strong start to the first round of racing would present the athlete from Texas (briefly) with a second-place start...before being overtaken by Honda's Chance Hymas. Though not long thereafter, a swapping crash of sorts would deter Masterpool to twenty-sixth in the running order. He was far from giving up, however, and proceeded to pass his way into the top-twenty by the second circuit! Steady gains were then made as clusters of riders began to open up throughout the pack, and as Masterpool sped past the mechanic's area time and time again, he was monitoring his mechanic's messages as to both, his lap-times and where he resided within the field. When nearing the finish-line section, Masterpool's ability to carve through the consecutive left-handed corners was incredible, and undoubtedly granted him a surplus of momentum (when in comparison to his competitors) as he stormed into the final valley just before the finish line. When passing the halfway point, Masterpool's lap-times remained exceptional - as he proceeded to overtake Daxton Bennick, Pierce Brown, and Julien Beaumer as well. There was little time remaining for this moto, but Masterpool was going to expend every bit of energy possible in order to maximize his position within the top-ten. And even with an unfortunate mistake being made on the last lap (losing two positions to both Brown and Beaumer) there was no question, as to how much speed the Texas native possessed when entering into moto-two...with an admirable ninth-place result. For moto two, he was battling for the hole-shot designation - which would put him into second through the first few corners of the following round...but a wash-out, with the entire pack behind him, would send him to the twenty-fourth place position in the early stages. Masterpool wasn't going to let any negative occurrence deter him from climbing back into the top-ten for this occasion either, and as he launched from a myriad of singles with his engine revved, it was evident that Ty was using the full capacity of both motor and suspension while sprinting through the field. Minute by minute, he would further his position - working his way into tenth, by the eighth lap! The intensity between he and opponents like Pierce Brown was hard to describe...but Masterpool remained in the fight through the final circuit for this moto as well. Though unable to surpass the Utah native, Masterpool would finish ahead of opponents like Ryder DiFrancesco and Casey Cochran...to earn yet another ninth-place accolade, for eighth overall in New Berlin!
