Undoubtedly a fan favorite, Kawasaki's Ty Masterpool once more presented stellar performance(s) while racing in Minnesota. His outdoor prowess was next level, and led to a notable beginning to the opening moto of the afternoon. A strong start, within the top-five, would be on display for the recently signed Monster Energy Pro Circuit rider. The action was intense, and a shuffling of positions would be undergone by the athlete aboard the number twenty-nine machine. He and Casey Cochran almost came together though, not long before the halfway point...where lines converged just before the roller section! Luckily, both athletes remained upright, with Masterpool overtaking the sixth-place standing, while noticing that Chance Hymas wasn't too far ahead. He proceeded to try and chip away at the gap in which the Honda rider had generated...but it was a bit too much to topple. All the while, a pair of Yamaha veterans (i.e. Jordon Smith and Max Anstie) were approaching his rear wheel rather rapidly. And as a result, both of the aforementioned Star Racing riders would overtake him before the checkered flag was waved. This resulted in an eighth-place finish being scored, prior to advancing to the latter round of competition...post-delay for both lightning in the area, as well as significant rainfall. Masterpool's start to the second moto, wasn't what the Texas native desired at all...where he resided thirty-ninth when passing the green flag. But Ty's resiliency was immediately put on display, where he clawed through the pack with tremendous effort. Bouncing and skipping his way through both whoop sections, he continued to style over the largest jumps after leaping from the takeoff's with a bold command. He had worked his way into eighteenth by the fourth lap, and resided near Tom Vialle and Pierce Brown, as all tried to make their way into the top-fifteen. After making even more passes, Ty would approach Jordon Smith...who was riding rather well. And though not initially able to overtake the North Carolina native, his output of speed would result in a surpassing of Jett Reynolds. With the timer continuing to tick, he remained aware of where he stood, in regard to the checkered flag. Though covered with mud from head to toe, and his vision through the goggle lens seemingly being non-existent, Masterpool refused to give up en route to the checkered flag. He eventually would work his way past Smith, while taking advantage of the opportunity given, on behalf of opponent's mistakes...and in the end, his effort led to tenth-place for the moto, and eighth-place overall, respectively.
