TY MASTERPOOL GRIT-227 450MX

TY MASTERPOOL | GRIT-227 | 450MX

Undoubtedly one of the most highlighted (and proficient) riders of the 450cc MX division so far in 2023, was that of Texas' Ty Masterpool. He and his family were racing aboard a Kawasaki machine, that was comprised of selected sponsors and their own efforts - proving that their skills as a team were top-notch, prior to embarking on the seventh round of the series in Minnesota. His speed was synonymous with that of rounds past, where he qualified sixth prior to diving into the first turn (of moto-one) with fearlessness; doing everything he could to attack the raceway with courage and fortitude amongst more experienced opponents. Masterpool's drive down the hillside of Mt. Martin was second-to-none, where the number eighty-one would forego any sign of braking or letting-off the throttle as the chassis attempted to dance from side-to-side. This would lead to him being solidified in the top-ten, after battling with the likes of Jerry Robin and Grant Harlan, while seeking to overtake names like Jason Anderson as well. Masterpool's speed in the roller section was almost unbelievable, too; where he clipped the top of each mogul with the rear wheel in a skipping motion, all the while letting the front-end hover above the ground with an outpouring of throttle! This would lead to him distancing his Kawasaki from the aforementioned Yamaha riders, with factory Kawasaki's Adam Cianciarulo, not "too" far ahead in the foreground as the checkered flag was waved. Ultimately grasping eighth before exiting the raceway, he was determined to improve for round number-two that followed. He then completed the opening lap of moto-two in fifth, and appeared to take the moto minute by minute, as he surveyed the immensely rugged terrain in front of him. He was efficient when sweeping through various switchbacks, feathering the clutch when necessary while making a pass on Grant Harlan near the halfway point. Though he wanted more, and proceeded to definitively clench the sixth-place position from Garrett Marchbanks on lap eleven; looking to do the same to Adam Cianciarulo (who was fifth) when nearing lap seventeen. Though unable to move around a fellow Kawasaki athlete, Masterpool's eventual accrual of sixth would extend his streak of success thus far in 2023 - leading to an extraordinary sixth overall, as well to end his tenure for round number seven of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship.
