Departing from mini-cycles and now solely competing on full-sized machinery, GasGas' Thomas "Tiger" Wood again ascended to the top of the standing(s) throughout the course of the event in Daytona, Florida. Wood was exceptional from the start of the 125cc (12-17) main event, proving that he was one of the fittest riders in the division after charging from eighth to fourth as the checkered flag was thrown. However, it would be in the Schoolboy 1 (12-17) classification, where Tiger's abilities equated to an outright gold medal...winning the championship with style prior to the event's conclusion.
