GasGas' Ryder DiFrancesco was a competitor who was constantly on the rise, throughout the 250MX division. And the rider from Bakersfield aspired to make a statement, as practice began in the early morning hours of this July weekend. Many in the crowd would applaud as he bounced through the whoop section, drifting to the outside berm that separated the paralleled lanes with the utmost speed - and using the powder of the perimeter as a means to ricochet from, never once letting off of the throttle! Instances like those, were indicative of how hard he was striving...earning a gate choice of thirteenth as he raced into the opening moto. Though his starting position was just outside of the top-twenty (i.e. twenty-first), DiFrancesco was anything but discouraged as he swept through the left-handed bend that preceded the mechanic's area. He knew the process of weaving his way through the field would be challenging, but the competitiveness of the California native was superb, and welcomed the rivalry of all in the field. By lap five, he had made his way to sixteenth, when approaching (and passing) Jett Reynolds in the moments that followed. He then pressured Pierce Brown for quite sometime, before making the move on the fellow GasGas rider on the thirteenth circuit. With the checkered flag in sight, he would accelerate with all of his might to clinch an eventual position of twelfth...which gave him a significant portion of momentum when moving into the next round of racing. As rain had fallen, Ryder took the adverse conditions as a platform to excel from - generating a green flag standing of sixth, as he zeroed-in on the top-five. As Daxton Bennick made a mistake when nearing the fifteen-minute mark, Ryder would take advantage...gaining the position in which the Yamaha athlete had lost. DiFrancesco was simultaneously chipping away at Dilan Schwartz in front of him, too, however and would make the pass definitively stick, as the race progressed to the eventual twenty-five minute mark! He was about nine-seconds off of the veteran, Max Anstie at that point, and though third-place appeared to be a bit out of reach, Ryder continued to strive for higher positioning. Eventually powering through the multitude of trenches that were made around the Spring Creek circuit, he and Haiden Deegan would battle until nearing the checkered flag...and despite being overtaken by the series' points leader, Ryder would still reside fifth as all concluded - which translated to a magnificent sixth-place overall feat, in the 250MX division!
