ROBBIE WAGEMAN - GRIT 250 250SX

GRIT-250 | 250 SX

June 3rd, 2024 6:30 pm

With the series finalé just around the corner, many in the 250cc SX West Coast division were willing to lay it all on the line in order to gain the maximal amount of points prior to moving into the town of Salt Lake City. Robbie Wageman was one of them...eyeing the course with ambition as practice began in the afternoon hours, navigating through the troublesome terrain with a flat-track (esque) persona in certain aspects - weighting the outside foot-peg in order to sustain traction. That notion was carried into the night show as he was loaded into his respective starting gate, with the bracket ahead of his front wheel acting as the only means of keeping him halted. Seconds later, a rapid clutch release would engage his wheel-set which had him flying into turn number one...using as much throttle as possible in the first two laps, to gain time on the competition. Hovering around the standing of seventh, after making a pass on Josh Varize, he and Lux Turner were on a similar pace when approaching the halfway point. This circuit was rather tight in a multitude of places, making the feud between he and the Nevada native rather close-quartered per se, which increased the likelihood of bar-banging or an aggressive pass occurring. He eventually made the pass stick, and kept the aforementioned opponent, along with Phil Nicoletti at bay when storming to the white flag however - clinching the standing of sixth as all concluded. In the main event, the fans would applaud the pace of race leader, Jo Shimoda out front who was attempting to break away from the field. However Wageman was riding with a stellar prowess as well when landing from the "SX" triple and navigating through the section immediately thereafter - polished amongst rocky transitions, sustaining an admirable flow aboard the Yamaha Chassis. As the track continued to break down, his original line choices (i.e. many of the middle pathways), would have to be diverted from in order to maintain a prominent lap-time - therefore, inside and outside lanes were worked on occasion, though he couldn't drift too far to the outer boundary...or otherwise, Lux Turner was going to continue closing-in and attempt to make a valiant pass in the final stages. Luckily, he wouldn't allow the KTM Rider to overtake him with the checkered flag in reach. And after making a pass on Talon Hawkins, while keeping Cole Thompson within a respectable distance in front of him, Wageman was solidified in eighth - against a difficult division of 250cc opponents, as all concluded in Denver, Colorado.
