Utah's Pierce Brown would prove that he's continuing to heighten his skillset within the 250MX division on Saturday...with a phenomenal effort on the Unadilla circuit. For practice, he appeared to be in total control of his GasGas machine while using the edges of the raceway...arcing many of the fastest sweepers with relentless throttle twisting en route to establishing notable lap-times on the overall leaderboard. This translated to the first moto of the afternoon as well, earning a seventh-place gate position and flying through the opening circuit of the moto to earn fourteenth amid the pack. He had reached the top-ten by lap five, and would gain a furthered position at the halfway point - overtaking Daxton Bennick for ninth, before reaching the largest flyaway tabletop. He appeared to possess endless motivation and was relentless when surging into trenches that had been established among the multitude of corners on the New York layout. Though Ty Masterpool was charging hard, and had to be acknowledged...with both he and Brown undergoing a strenuous battle with the checkered flag not far ahead. Despite the Kawasaki rider eventually making his way by, a countering move by Pierce would be the final conquering of the seventh-place position per se...where the number thirty-three was able to position his machine in front of Masterpool at the flag - earning the aforementioned seventh-place spot before exiting the raceway. Later on in the afternoon, he would fly from the grate(s) once more...and after five minutes of competition had passed to begin the second round, Brown and Julien Beaumer would contend for the sixth-place position with notable efforts. Pierce couldn't surpass as the KTM rider as quickly as he would've liked, which led to athletes like Jordon Smith and Garrett Marchbanks gaining time on the KTM/GasGas duo. Though surpassed by both Smith and the Kawasaki athlete, Brown proceeded to continuing ascending which in return, kept Max Anstie and Ty Masterpool at bay. Along with defending his standing, Brown would also surpass Julien Beaumer...which equated to the seventh-place position being within reach when nearing the checkered flag. He would pursue Jordon Smith across the mechanic's area straightaway on the last lap, and though unable to work his way around the veteran, Brown's aspirations of claiming a top-six overall were clinched via a seventh-place result in moto's one and two, respectively.
