Utah's Pierce Brown would always have to be acknowledged within the 250MX Championship. His talent level was top-tier and he once again proved that, while stationed in Washougal, Washington on Saturday. For practice, he was within a respectable distance of clinching the pole position...and as all settled among the muddy sessions, the GasGas rider would claim a final standing of fourth before transferring into the moto's that followed. His reaction time when leaping from the grate in moto-one was commendable, and aided an eventual position of twelfth being occupied as he passed the green flag. He then advanced to eighth by the sixth lap of the contest, where he had somehow managed to overtake Julien Beaumer, Jalek Swoll, and Jett Reynolds...nearly simultaneously! He appeared to be on a mission of sorts, and would scrub from the summit of various ant-hills with his rear-wheel continuously spinning - refusing to become complacent with the checkered flag still, a ways away. Therefore, he would then begin to pressure Chance Hymas, and he could sense that the Honda rider was a bit less than one-hundred percent per se...therefore when the opportunity to make a pass arose, Brown immediately stormed forward and took the position once and for all on circuit number nine! At that point, Jordon Smith was next to be surpassed...and with a mistake by the Yamaha rider, Brown too, would overtake him! This led to a standing of sixth being occupied as he neared the finish line...after losing only one position to Britain's Max Anstie. The veteran was riding extremely well, and Brown would do everything possible to try and replicate the flow of the Star Racing Yamaha rider when nearing the completion of the final circuit. Ultimately, a final score of sixth would be established for the athlete aboard the number thirty-nine machine...and after beginning the second moto in eighth, it was Brown who once again appeared to be on a stellar trajectory. He was exceptional when garnering traction on the hard-packed/blue-grooved surfaces of this Washington course - dispersing his weight across the chassis with optimal balance, which translated to remarkable lap-times, well past the halfway point of the moto. He had passed Jalek Swoll for sixth, on the ninth circuit...and then looked to his teammate (i.e. Ryder DiFrancesco) as a means of gaining another position. This battle would rival those instances at the test track in previous weeks, where both opponents were striving for bragging rights within the semi...but for this occasion, it was Brown who received the highest honor. He had worked his way into fifth, and remained there as all was finalized for this latter afternoon race...earning fifth overall in the process!
