PIERCE BROWN - GRIT 242 250SX
May 18, 2024 · Pierce Brown

GRIT-242 | 250 SX
Utah's Pierce Brown had continued his display of remarkable speed throughout the 2024 Supercross Season thus far. And upon arrival to the Daytona SX facility, Pierce appeared ecstatic to display his skills on this unique racing surface. He would bombard the competition with an array of fast laps, remaining at the front of the field while representing the GasGas manufacturer extremely well...and after acquiring a position on the starting grid for heat one, he would shift into gear and fix his vision on the path in front of him. Throughout the first forty-five seconds of action (or so), Brown appeared to be acknowledged around the fourth-place position. He executed the opening portions of the moto with expertise, scrubbing the largest of "SX" triples with authority while twisting the throttle long before returning to the infield...the fight for various inside lines was more like a quarrel than an instance of friendly fire, between he and Haiden Deegan who was known for unwavering resiliency. Through the halfway point, Brown was shifting across the perpendicular start-straightaway area with a forceful clicking of his left lever, launching into the rhythm lane thereafter where he landed the final triple with the utmost calculation...flowing into the right handed corner thereafter with a means of re-passing Chance Hymas - as the Honda rider had made his way around...but it was Pierce who remained within the fight as laps began to conclude. Ultimately gathering a standing of fourth, he looked ahead to the main event of the evening. The atmosphere couldn't have been more electric while the first few laps of the finalé were underway - with Brown hovering near a standing of sixth, while fighting for clear vision upon his goggle lens. The endless pile of beach sand zapped the momentum of countless opponents while they dove, and carved through the makeshift inside berm...but Pierce's momentum seemed to topple the velocities of many outside of the top-ten. Scrubbing his way through the brief section of obstacles just before the largest tunnel jump, a persistent barking could be heard just feet behind him...and the definitive roar was put forth on behalf of Triumph's Jalek Swoll, who refused to remain contained to the roost thrown by Brown's rear wheel. Pierce retaliated with a brilliant offensive path forward, holding end-range speed(s) and RPM's when diving into the furthest right-handed sweeper after the finish-line, portraying an outdoor-style grit rather than depictions of blocking that were typical on a normalized "SX" circuit. Brown's momentum couldn't be nullified, and as he adopted a flow in the final stages that was just off the pace of Yamaha's Haiden Deegan in front of him, the final position of fifth, that would be logged in the record book was one to be proud of - showcasing phenomenal speed throughout the day as the 2024 series moves forward.
