PIERCE BROWN | GRIT-229 | 250MX
Gaining momentum after fighting throughout adversity in recent times, GasGas' Pierce Brown would prove that he could battle amongst the top 250ccc athletes while stationed in New York on Saturday. This track was one of the most difficult to conquer on all of the circuit, but the Utah native would begin the trek to the top-ten with a remarkable ninth-place standing in qualification. And once receiving an optimal gate choice, Brown's clutch release and shifting points would accompany an outpouring of fearlessness while diving into the first two right-handed bends...which led him to receiving ninth-place honors as well at the conclusion of lap one. With the 250cc classification packed full of talent, the fans would be on their feet cheering those in the field around...including Brown. It was evident that he was motivated with an enthusiastic riding style, continuing to flick the chassis amongst the double after the finish-line (despite ruts filling the takeoff and landing) all the while chasing down those in the top-five. Brown and Tom Vialle where nearly inseparable for a good portion of the moto, and despite the KTM rider moving forward as they approached the three-quarter mark, Brown refused to become complacent with that of Preston Kilroy and Daxton Bennick behind him. Ultimately finishing twelfth, Brown would exit the raceway as quickly as possible to briefed before the second moto. He had watched his 450cc teammate compete beforehand, with the premier classification set to take the stage first - and Brown knew that he could elevate to an even higher level for the second round of racing. However, after a brief delay for weather and another for a subsequent injury to RJ Hampshire, many on the gate would lose their spike of adrenaline before the final gate-drop actually occurred...not Brown, however. The young man from the mountainous region would thrive while roosting the opposition with rocks from his rear wheel, jumping into the "Wall" section with his engine pinned prior to diving into the furthest inside line possible. His speeds when flying from the landing of the flyaway tabletop were unbelievable, where he made use of the newfound changes while shifting upward through the gearbox. His initial registry of thirteenth would be erased as minutes passed, overtaking both Carson Mumford and Ryder DiFrancesco as the ruts of Unadilla grew deeper than ever. And after accelerating to a final position of eleventh, his cemented overall standing would be spectacular prior to moving on to Budd's Creek.
