PIERCE BROWN GRIT-228 250MX

PIERCE BROWN | GRIT-228 | 250MX

Throughout the event on Saturday in Washington, Utah's Pierce Brown would assemble countless laps that embodied an astounding pace aboard his GasGas 250cc machine. Brown had received a number of unfortunate injuries throughout the past few years, but managed to prove to all who watched that he and his 250cc machine still possessed top-tier qualities amongst one of the toughest championships in all of two-wheeled racing. After showing instances of brilliance in qualification, Brown would fly through the compact first corner where riders were bar-to-bar when sweeping around the opening left-handed sweeper; managing to obtain a position of ninth as the green flag waved. In the laps that followed, Brown would hold strong in this standing until making a slight mistake prior to the sixth circuit being completed - losing a few positions in the process, but returning to his previously flow almost immediately. He could be found battling with Preston Kilroy and Caden Braswell, flying amongst the infield as fans leaned over the fence-line and would yell with enthusiasm...which motivated him to ascend to an even higher pace with time running out. The final four laps were a display of incredible maneuvering, as he danced through the roughest straightaways on the circuit (including after the wall-jump) with vision that allowed him to dodge the largest of pot-holes; which nearly propelled him past Talon Hawkins in the closing stages as well! Though just short of moving in front of the Husqvarna competitor, his final standing of twelfth would be solid given the level of competition he was facing. The latter moto of the afternoon was only hour(s) away, and Brown's initial registry (of ninth) would again grant him a solid platform to begin the trek to a top-ten overall. He would move to as high as sixth in the laps thereafter, moving past RJ Hampshire, Maximus Vohland, and Talon Hawkins by the time circuit number four would arise! He managed to carry a significant pace around the ten-minute mark, where RJ Hampshire demonstrated a rebuttal of sorts and pushed forward (along with Kawasaki's Jo Shimoda). It was then a process of fighting fatigue while minimizing mistakes, as the true surface of this track (i.e. hard-packed) was now the absolute playing field in which these athletes compete on...leaving little room for error, for Brown, while the twenty and twenty-five minute mark(s) came to fruition. It was then a contest between he and Austin Forkner in regard to who could reach the checkered flag first; and though the Missouri native ultimately prevailed, it was Brown who claimed the eleventh-place registry (for this moto) to position his GasGas machine into a well-respected tenth overall on the day!
