PIERCE BROWN | GRIT-215 | SX 250

After a stellar showcase of lap-times and segment speed throughout the day in qualifying, GasGas' Pierce Brown would appear to be more motivated than ever as the field aligned on the starting grid to begin moto number-one of the main event trilogy. His clutch release that followed would be noteworthy, leading to a battle for position in the first corner...that unfortunately had him crashing to the ground! He would be forced to remount his motorcycle while the entire pack sped away, yet shortly thereafter a red flag would be thrown on behalf of Stilez Robertson. The unfortunate injury to the Yamaha rider forced the field to re-rack on the starting gate; and Brown would prevail through the first few laps of competition while on pace with those in podium territory. Pierce then resided fourth with a little over seven minutes to go on the clock; all the while hoping that RJ Hampshire, Jett Lawrence, or Levi Kitchen would make a mistake...yet the composure of the aforementioned three riders would never lapse. Brown remained focused on the task at hand, however, and swept through the various portions of the racetrack while aspiring to grab as much traction as possible (as this soil lacked a substantial tacky base). Pierce's talent would translate to substantial lap-times being generated throughout the moto, but there wasn't enough speed (on his behalf) to truly overtake any of the three riders ahead who were contending for a podium; which led to a fourth-place position being obtained, prior to the green flag waving for round number two. A seventh position amongst the initial standings would be a platform to work from for the Utah native, where his speed impacted those in the top five immediately as he swept past Mitchell Harrison and Carson Mumford. Brown was proficient through the whoops as he blitzed them on the outside pathway, arcing his way through the subtle left-handed corner that followed while speeding past the mechanic's area. He too would overtake Max Vohland prior to lap five being completed, positioning his GasGas 250 into fourth (again) with Jett Lawrence now in front of him. He'd do everything possible in order to gain time on the Australian, but the red-plate holder would be just a tad too quick for Pierce to overtake him...leading to another fourth-place standing prior to the third round of racing. Brown would hover inside the top-five as the final green flag was thrown, looking to overtake RJ Hampshire in the laps that followed; but even with the mistake(s) of the Husqvarna competitor, Brown couldn't generate enough to move past the number twenty-four. Meanwhile, Enzo Lopes was riding at a phenomenal pace and was closing in on Pierce as they ended lap three....leading to the ClubMX rider taking over fourth as the fourth circuit began. And though the track was in an almost unrecognizable state (due to blue grooved and hard-packed surfaces), Brown would still manage to excel at a solid trajectory; eventually finishing the eleven-lap contest in fifth, for fourth overall in the record book(s)!
