Upon signing with the Star Racing Yamaha team, California's Michael Mosiman was immediately listed as a threat for excellent finishes within this West Coast Championship. His talent was undeniable, and after contending with some of the highest honors of any practice session, the former GasGas athlete wanted to excel within the night show. Beginning heat number two in sixth-place, he moved into the fifth-place residency immediately thereafter. There was little room for error on this course, but a few solid lines had been established at this point in the night show with the opening heat beginning to carve grooves. He and Garrett Marchbanks were on a similar trajectory as they raced to the halfway point, with Mosiman continuously trying to acclimate his stamina and analyzation process that had been dormant for quite sometime. Nevertheless, he put his best effort forward; continuing to also mimic the pace of Carson Mumford as the checkered flag appeared in the distance. Ultimately residing fifth, he would advance to the main event with a solid gate choice. Upon the pins unlatching for the finalé, all in the field were chasing Kawasaki's Levi Kitchen. Mosiman resided around fourth, amongst a sea of Yamaha machines...including his teammate Nate Thrasher. Though passed by RJ Hampshire and Thrasher in the following stages, Mosiman's prowess aboard the newfound Yamaha chassis had to be acknowledged. He floated through the sand and over the wall jump with immense speed, combatting (at that point) SX rookie Julien Beaumer...both of the series newcomers (albeit, with different pro experience levels) appeared to be on a similar trajectory when storming to the three-quarter mark of the moto. Though Mosiman's pass (on lap twelve, where he followed Carson Mumford around Beaumer) was an applaud-worthy move that seemed to solidify him near the sixth-place standing. The fight for the position just outside of the top-five would boil amongst he and Beaumer in the final stages, but Mosiman's career thus far on the professional circuit was undoubtedly encompassed with composure. Into the final four laps he plunged, pushing the Yamaha motor to its maximum levels while continuously skimming the whoops - despite the sea of ruts that had now trenched each mogul from start to finish along the pad. He remained nimble and swift aboard the chassis as the checkered flag appeared, fending off opponents who made their way near him...gathering a sixth-overall position as all was said and done. Which, was an admirable run to begin his tenure aboard the Yamaha brand.
