MAXIMUS VOHLAND GRIT-228 250MX

MAXIMUS VOHLAND | GRIT-228 | 250MX

Embodying immense throttle control and calculation when competing upon the KTM motorcycle, California's Maximus Vohland was destined to find success as he and the team rolled onto the Washougal MX facility on Saturday. Few within the 250cc MX division could demonstrate the swift and smooth maneuvering in which he exhibited; leaving him as one of the strongest riders in all of the 250cc field (i.e. sixth) by the time qualification laps concluded in the morning hours. Following the gate-drop of the first moto, Maximus would round the opening few corners inside of the top-three; but would actually claim the second-place residency following the peak of "Horsepower Hill," where he tried to pass the leader (Haiden Deegan) as well! Water had been thrown upon the track, making the canvas rather slick as a number of riders were trying to choose between inside and outside lines in an instantaneous manner! Though Vohland was passed before taking the green flag (by that of Cooper) he still remained engaged in a prominent pace as minutes progressed. Once into third, Vohland's output of speed was phenomenal - so much so, that he kept Hunter Lawrence at bay through lap nine! Despite being overtaken by the Honda rider at this point, Vohland wasn't going to simply shy away from contesting with the best riders in the division. Which set the storyline for a challenging battle between he and RJ Hampshire; with the number twenty-four working his way around on lap number-thirteen, causing Vohland to slide to fifth. Though remaining here through the checkered flag, Maximus' performance to begin the two-moto racing sequence was admirable and worthy of applause. He would build from his fifth-place standing in the first moto of competition to reside eighth in the early going of moto number two. Though the roost of "Horsepower Hill" would hurt a bit more than that of hours before (with the soil drying out), there was little that could be thrown Vohland's way that deterred him from pushing at the highest of levels. Minutes passed and the track continued to lose what moisture it once had, making the aforementioned narrative of throttle control even that much more important. Though Carson Mumford was trailing him, Maximus continued to engage in a series of lines that were most efficient and adopted the utmost of velocities; rather than ones that defended insides, in hopes of keeping the number fifty-two at bay. And that mantra was one that ultimately worked to the highest regard - keeping Vohland in eighth (behind Jo Shimoda) to garner an eighth overall, as well, in this highly competitive 250cc mx division.
