MAXIMUS VOHLAND | GRIT-226 | 250MX
KTM's Maximus Vohland had been very consistent throughout the rounds of racing thus far on the AMA Outdoor circuit, and after a notable performance in Michigan last week, the Californian would return to the battlefield once more to contest the notorious Southwick, Massachusetts racetrack. Vohland's prowess in practice would have him accelerating to a final position of seventh, where the number thirty-four then rolled into the moto's thereafter with immense self-esteem and confidence. For the opening laps of the first moto, Vohland would battle near the top-five, prior to making a slight mistake where he washed the front-end on the subtle drop-off shortly thereafter the start straightaway. He would quickly rebound after planting his inside leg into the soil in attempt to keep the engine running, and remained around a sixth-place standing as the moto neared the halfway point. Though battling with Levi Kitchen and Ryder DiFrancesco, Vohland would do his best to hold his own amongst the ever-changing conditions. Maximus' mindset wouldn't be deterred as he quickly assembled another substantial pace, keeping the number forty-three at bay while also defending the charge from rookie Haiden Deegan when nearing the twenty-minute mark. Hunter Lawrence had moved forward significantly, but the resiliency of Vohland remained...despite eventually being passed by the aforementioned Yamaha tandem as they swept through the final laps of the moto. Ultimately categorized in eighth, Vohland's speed was evident and destined to be replicated in the following moto of the afternoon as well. He would begin the next race in eighth, alongside riders like Jalek Swoll and Levi Kitchen, immediately showcasing tremendous lap-times amongst this deteriorated racetrack. Vohland's path through the continual left-handed sweeper (just before the finish-line) was incredible; where he hopped amongst the outside rollers in a doubling (and at times) tripling manner, before smashing through the exit and into the single that followed! It was the subtle nuances of his game that were a means to move ahead of Caden Braswell, especially as the GasGas rider throttled forward in the final stages of the moto. Five laps, and then four laps, three laps, and so on would pass as the timer neared expiration; leaving Vohland to occupy sixth, ahead of Jalek Swoll, as the checkered flag was thrown! And his phenomenal scores in Massachusetts, would eventually lead to an incredible seventh-place final standing being earned amongst the stacked 250cc classification
