There was an abundance of talent competing aboard Yamaha machinery on Saturday, and England's Max Anstie would proceed to join the crew of established riders as athletes revved their engines for practice. Anstie was a superb, calculated veteran - who'd won in a multitude of series, among various racing genres, before joining the current Yamaha squad. And as he excelled to a stellar landing of ninth place in practice, many in the crowd believed that the athlete who sported the number thirty-seven could compete within the top-ten, throughout the duration of both moto's. As the thirty-second board would go sideways for race one, Anstie would storm through the opening lap while pulling an array of tear-off's. This pristine soil would stick to his lens, and each time he soared above the raceway, Max seemed to pull for a clear sheet before attacking the circuit once more. He appeared to hover around the ninth-place standing as he scrubbed the legendary flyaway tabletop, just before LaRocco's Leap - picking a forthcoming rut from dozen's of feet away, before racing through the trench at the height of third and fourth gear! There was no time to relax on this track, which made for numerous racers to undergo substantial fatigue...but Anstie didn't seem to fade as he hit the three/quarter mark of the moto, acknowledging his mechanic as he shifted past the paddock, and into the following left-handed bend. An extensive battle was showcased by he and Pierce Brown in the final stages, where both athletes pursued the rear wheel of Jalek Swoll when nearing the finish line...but Anstie was unable to work his way around the Triumph rider, and obtained a notable ninth place score, as a result. For moto two, he took an opening standing of eleventh - and would sweep from inside to outside as he rounded the bend that proceeded the finish line. He could lean the chassis as far to the left and right as he wanted among this immense Michigan soil, and used minimal feathering of the clutch, as a result of the wide-open presentation of power per se. He and Nicholas Romano were paralleled in speed for a significant chunk of time, until Anstie would make the pass on lap twelve while proceeding to claw his way toward the rear wheel of ClubMX Yamaha's Mark Fineis and Jett Reynolds. Both of those athletes were riding stellar, however, and as Anstie proceeded to conclude the moto, his final result of thirteenth equated to a commendable ninth-place overall accolade.
