LEVI KITCHEN | GRIT-214 | SX 250
Racing in front of well over one-hundred family and friends, Washington's Levi Kitchen would definitely rise to the occasion as round eleven of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series came to fruition. Kitchen had built a substantial amount of momentum prior to the break in the championship, and proceeded to "come out swinging" for that of qualification on Saturday. He immediately plunged into the mud-ridden soil with fearlessness, unwavering with his twisting of the throttle en route to an incredible third-place standing. This would build the narrative for a dominant heat race performance, as his Yamaha would sprint to an initial lead that couldn't be thwarted by either Jett Lawrence or Cameron McAdoo who trailed. Those two combatants would quarrel amongst each other for the entire moto, even coming to a climatic collision that nearly doubled the lead of the Star Racing athlete! Kitchen truly was in a league of his own, and seemed in command of both the competition and racecourse as he closed in on the checkered flag. And as the eighth lap was completed, Levi's number forty-three ride would be cemented atop the standing(s), ready for furthered battle in the main event. His start for the finalé though, was less than ideal as he combatted opponents outside of the top ten. Quickly, however, he pressed forward and into single digit territory, emerging seventh with only a few minutes having expired. Seventh immediately translated to fifth, which was held for a substantial amount of time before advancing one more spot (on behalf of his teammate Stilez Robertson's crash). He would have Enzo Lopes to deal with as the race would pass the ten-minute mark, keeping the ClubMX Yamaha rider at bay with tenacity for as long as he could. But Lopes couldn't be ignored, nor could KTM's Max Vohland as the three-pack of riders charged toward the checkered flag. Kitchen would proceed to do everything in his power to defend the fourth-place residency from his adversaries, but would unfortunately be overtaken by both with only a few minutes left on the clock. However, he was able to keep Pierce Brown subdued within the seventh-place standing behind him, leading to his Yamaha crossing the finish-line in sixth as all was said and done. Looking ahead to Glendale, the industry is certain to believe that Kitchen will be contending for top-fives yet again while the series resides in Arizona.
