KEVIN MORANZ | GRIT-217 | SX 450
Kansas' Kevin Moranz was undoubtedly one of the strongest "hustlers" of anyone in the privateer pits, constantly innovating his program aboard the KTM 450 in order to conquer his goals and take his riding efforts to the next level. That idea would be brought into MetLife Stadium as well, where he generated quite the presence and substantial amount of views (from fans) while he sped around the MetLife circuit with expertise. Leaping through rhythm lanes and the whoop section with confidence, if he could just engage in a start of sorts that we'd seen in week's past, many believed that Moranz was destined for another strong showing in the main event, too. This would lead to the second heat, where Moranz began in fifth while hoping to move even further ahead. However it was Yamaha's Eli Tomac who had made his way by in the moments to follow, leaving Moranz in a position to follow the red plate holder as closely as possible as they neared the finish-line. Kevin would speed past the mechanics area while acknowledging his crew chief who wrote the position of seventh on the pit-board as the timer was set to expire. And clenching the aforementioned standing (of seventh) as engines ceased, there was little that could prepare him for what was to come in the main event. The track would be absolutely filled with moisture, leaving this to be one of the gnarliest mud races in history...which Kevin was okay with! He would exemplify his patented strong starting technique while surging to sixth on the opening lap; and in the circuits to follow he would battle with some of the best SX racers in the world inside the top-ten. Lap traffic, even on his behalf, was beginning to get heavy; and his vision was scare as he tried to leap over the finish-line double that was marred beyond belief. But the young competitor within the premier division remained composed while residing in the top ten, defending his single-digit positions with the utmost integrity and effort. This would lead into the final five laps or so, where his bike was hardly recognizable though those who cheered for rem would easily identify his relentless will to succeed. And attributes like that, would be the ones that propelled him into seventh behind Shane McElrath...residing here as all was finalized, while undoubtedly scoring one of the strongest highlights of his career!
