Returning to his native, Northeastern region, Justin Barcia's fans would flock to the city of Philadelphia to cheer on the long-time veteran who originally resided in the state of New York. It was evident that he was acclimated to this environment, as he scrubbed and whipped his way through practice - putting forth one of the most applaud-worthy shows of speed and style that one could imagine! This translated into the heat race thereafter, where he was trailing Ty Masterpool at the green flag, but made the move forward (and around) that of the Kawasaki rider shorty thereafter. A pair of Yamaha riders were just in front of him at that time (i.e. Webb and Tomac), and Barcia would do everything possible to try and lessen the gap between he and his rivals in the series. However, both were riding extremely well, forcing Barcia to remain steadfast in third while pursuing the checkered flag. Flying over the finish line to receive the cue that one lap remained, Barcia landed on the racetrack with the rear wheel constantly spinning, surging into rhythm lanes thereafter with perfect timing while leaping over gaps of varying sizes. Ultimately categorized in third as all was settled, Justin looked ahead to the main event as a platform to excel. As gate(s) dropped, Barcia's jump was rather advantageous - earning a standing of sixth, as packs of riders began to disperse. He immediately, was hounded by Honda's Hunter Lawrence...with the younger rider doing everything possible to try and square-up the veteran in a multitude of corners. Lap by lap, they would absolutely "go at it" if you will, leaving little room for error when countering one another's lines upon storming to the checkered flag. There was one sequence, when Lawrence would run Barcia to the far outer boundaries of the track, only for Barcia to quickly retaliate with a daring charging maneuver only seconds thereafter - retaining the sixth-place position, as the twentieth minute was set to come to fruition! In the final moments, it appeared as if Barcia were tracking-down Yamaha's Eli Tomac...all the while still being pursued by Lawrence who was relentless with his offensive attack. This, was sustained through the final double...and though Justin was unable to overtake the Colorado native, his line of defense to keep Lawrence at bay was certainly noteworthy - proving that his talent remained at a high level, to occupy sixth in the final standings.
