Yamaha's Jordon Smith knew that he must present a performance that was equated to a notable point total while stationed in Missouri. After last week's unfortunate crash, the North Carolina native knew that he loss of positions severely deterred his championship aspirations. But, he couldn't be discredited; and returned to the racetrack for the opening moto of the evening while running (initially) near a standing of sixth. His mentality when zeroing-in on Ryder DiFrancesco (whom he'd passed) was evident as fans watched from afar, and then proceeded to engage in a battle with Nate Thrasher (who he would also overtake) while doing the same to Julien Beaumer as well. Smith was making passes a steady rate, which enabled him to secure the third-place position with only a small bit of time remaining. Jo Shimoda was the next opponent to try and be surpassed...but the Honda rider was accelerating at an exceptional rate with only a small portion of time remaining. The effort was extraordinary by Smith, and he remained in contention for an overall podium as all was said and done, via third in the final standings. Beginning the following moto in the runner-up position, Smith was a sniper per se when marking his lines on the track. He executed the countless ruts (even amongst the jump faces) with perfect balance - portraying years of hard work and consistent practice, via brilliant acceleration aboard his Yamaha. Thrashing the suspension as he barreled through the whoops, again, it was Levi Kitchen who was out front. Smith unleashed all in his arsenal to try and lessen the gap between he and the Kawasaki rider...but the gap that the forty-seven was too extend to diminish. Listed in second, the ride was magnificent as he eventually was categorized in the runner-up residency. For the final moto, Smith was steadfast in fourth. From beginning to end, the Yamaha rider remained engaged (and poised) while the other arguable top-tier contenders of the championship were all around him. He wasn't rattled, knowing that the track was continuously breaking away in every facet...and instead, placed an emphasis on remaining efficient while the eleven-lap process came to a close. Ultimately gathering a fourth-place standing over the final double, his summary of performances propelled him to an incredible third-place overall standing!
