JORDON SMITH | GRIT-210 | SX 250

Racing as a standout in all eras of his career thus far, Yamaha's Jordon Smith would showcase his talent on the highest scale as action in Northern Texas began. The speed of the number fifty-eight could never be discredited, and was an attribute that withstood the test of time, especially as round seven of the current series came to fruition. Following signifiant excerpts of momentum in practice, it would be time for the first round of the Triple Crown sequence to begin. His initial placement was less than ideal, but he quickly made moves inside the top-ten to try and nullify the lead that Hunter Lawrence was trying to engage in. The Honda rider was spectacular at the front of the field, but Smith's passing and velocity through various facets of the course wouldn't go unnoticed by those in the crowd. Moving (and staying) ahead of the likes of Tom Vialle, Jeremy Martin, and Michael Mosiman, Smith's rally into the top-four was crucial as he neared the checkered flag. Residing in fourth as action ceased, he would be well on his way to a successful overall outing if he continued on this pattern. For the second round of racing, Smith would exhibit an astounding hole-shot sequence where he led the field to the green flag. Though action was rather chaotic and problematic for many adversaries who trailed, Smith's "open frontier" of racetrack ahead of him had all the making(s) of a race winning pathway if he could just remain focused. Nate Thrasher and Hunter Lawrence were going at one another behind him, but Smith paid no attention to anything in his rearview...ultimately accruing the victory with a standout performance and unparalleled momentum going into moto number three. Starting around the third place position (for the final race), the narrative seemed to be aligning for Jordon Smith (though Nate Thrasher was out front, and attempting to break away). He appeared as though he could hunt-down the Tennessean, until a wash-out by Michael Mosiman (beneath the tunnel jump) would have Jordon Smith running into the GasGas machine and flying over the handlebars! In a race to pick up the bike, he would lose a few positions, and try to rebound as quickly as possible. Now fifth, he would be overcome with adrenaline in the laps that followed as Nate Thrasher crashed in the whoops, and almost was passed by Smith! Nate was able to return to the track just ahead of Jordon, though Smith wouldn't be discouraged as the checkered flag neared. Continuing to push as hard as possible, Smith's desire would ultimately cost him (as he slid out in the left-handed corner before the wall jump). However, his points total would still be enough to eventually obtain second overall, as he crossed the line in fifth shortly thereafter.
