The top-ten of the 250MX class for this year's championship were riding at an unbelievable pace. And among them, was 250MX veteran, Joey Savatgy - who appeared excited to roll onto the raceway, otherwise known as "The Wick." This facility had offered dozens upon dozens of years of phenomenal racing, and he knew that he was set to be apart of the highest battles as the green flag waved for practice. Flowing through the multitude of switchback sections this track provided, his ability to weight and toggle the chassis in a left-and-right manner was superb - he looked proficient when others struggled, and his efforts were reiterated to an incredible lap-time as the checkered flag was thrown. Once his sights were set on the first moto however, there was little that could deter him. He eventually would plunge through the first turn with incredible velocities, staying calm among the sea of revving engines to acquire a standing of sixth in the early going. There wasn't much room to breathe as he was among a battle of opponents, including Nicholas Romano and Levi Kitchen who were riding with a superb offensive output of speed. Though Savatgy's flow amid the corners that surrounded the finish-line, was a definite trait within his arsenal that had to be recognized, leading to a pass on the number 511 machine. Everyone on the racetrack was striving for a strong lap-time within the two-minute range, but as braking bumps continued to amplify, it was difficult to replicate the speeds that were presented in the initial practice stages. Through the mechanic's area on the final five circuits, he looked to his team member as a means of reassurance and encouragement...which were recognizable characteristics in keeping Ty Masterpool and teammate Jalek Swoll at bay. And in the end, the score of fifth that was earned, would be a catalyst for motivation in the next round of action...displaying consistency through the final lap. For the second moto, the lines of the opening race had now vanished. It was far from a clean slate, but when scanning the track in the initial laps, he was able to recognize some of the fastest pathways while occupying the fifth-place position. The elements of heat, fatigue, and elevated heart-rate were now coming into play (especially after the red-flag restart)...but he was able to move into fourth after a mistake from Haiden Deegan would cause a loss of positions for the Yamaha rider. Though the number thirty-eight returned to battle once again just a few laps later, and eventually deterred Savatgy to fifth on the sixth lap. He remained rather consistent with his speed and pace from that point onward, and even moved into fourth for a significant portion of time (nearing the checkered flag) due to a mistake by Levi Kitchen. However, just when the checkered flag was within reach, he would lose two positions to Chance Hymas and Jordon Smith...eventually earning a final moto score of sixth, for a notable fifth-place overall feat, too.
