Jett Lawrence appeared to possess the speed of old, when attacking the track for practice on Saturday. He was proficient in every area of competition, and proceeded to unleash a plethora of notable laps before exiting the latter session early, in order to save energy. That strategy appeared to pay-off for the Australian competitor as moto-one began, where the Honda athlete rounded the opening corner to the inside, claiming the lead. He immediately showcased remarkable sprint speed, distancing himself (ahead of the pack) to a nearly three-second margin at the green flag! Once there, Lawrence simply dictated the pace of others in the field...stretching the gap (between he and his brother who resided second) to a comfortable standing, before the Australian found the flow of old. He was swift in the tight corners, and sustained momentum in the sweeping berms that were constantly being pushed further and further out. Once noticing a point of diminishing pathway(s), Lawrence was quick to make his own grooves, while sustaining phenomenal momentum. This process would continue through the entirety of the sixteen-lap moto, where Jett held the lead from the opening circuit until moto's conclusion, to claim the race victory! He would avoid the chaos of turn number one to claim the hole-shot in moto two, while immediately establishing his presence at the front of the field once more. However, Hunter Lawrence would pass him on the third circuit, just after the opening anthill that proceeded the mechanic's area. He looked to his left which enabled Hunter to move forward, and the number one machine (i.e. Jett) was now left to be the second place recipient. He monitored the gap between he and Hunter for the duration of the moto, nullifying the lead at times, while also losing valuable milliseconds on occasion...creating an eventful plot, when entering into the final ten minutes of action. He still resided second, but was all over the rear wheel of Hunter - and eventually made the pass, via an inside move in a left-handed corner, with eight minutes remaining on the clock. Now into the lead, all seemed to be well, until Chase Sexton aspired to rival the Australian rider. There were only a few laps left to complete, but the Illinois native wasn't going to go away without a fight...and the two (Jett and Chase) nearly converged with their lines when entering into the finish line section...with just a little over two minutes remaining on the clock! Each athlete was lunging forward with incredible speed, riding the on the brink of disaster while only feet apart from one another. Though Jett's late race rebuttal, was eventually countered by Sexton once and for all...among the straightaway that was proximal to the mechanic's area and uphill thereafter. Lawrence had no choice but to allow Chase to take over the lead, and then resided in second. He would have to counter a late race charge from his brother once more, but eventually, Jett resided second in the moto at the checkered flag - which was strong enough for the overall win!
