Jett Lawrence aspired to dominate on Saturday...and would do just that, as the opening round of practice began. Immediately contending for the pole position, he and opponents like Chase Sexton were constantly battling while reaching for the strongest lap-time award. Lawrence would eventually obtain it, shocking the crowd and all who watched through various media outlets from around the world with his unbelievable speed...and as the first moto began, Jett continued on that trajectory. He was initially rivaled by that of Aaron Plessinger and Hunter Lawrence (for a few corners, that is) until Jett began to subtly pull away and establish a gap of multiple seconds. Once an ample margin was created over the competition, Lawrence monitored the distance between he and his rivals - including his brother, who eventually moved into second. He (Jett) seemed to be comfortable with five seconds (or so) separating he from the fellow Honda rider, and would sustain that through the checkered flag...exiting the raceway with another victory generated, while looking do to the same in the following moto. It was Hunter Lawrence who was actually granted the holeshot designation in round two, but Jett quickly took the lead with an incredible scrubbing maneuver over the initial tabletop on the course and solidified the claim in the corners thereafter. A commanding look-over of sorts would be portrayed by Jett as he lunged to the front of the pack, but in the laps thereafter, he couldn't seem to break away from Hunter nor Chase Sexton that easily. Both opponents were really attempting to overtake him...with countless instances of diving to the inside with their front wheels, over-rev's, and attempted block passes being put forth. But time and time again, no matter how close they got, Lawrence continued to lead. Eventually, he would put a couple of seconds in between he and the concluding second-place performer (i.e. Chase Sexton)...though the KTM rider wouldn't necessarily allow Lawrence to waltz his way to the finish line. Nevertheless, even amongst challenging circumstances and a final surge on behalf of the Illinois native, Jett would prevail. Flying through the multitude of tabletops that accompanied the checkered flag, it was the number one of Jett Lawrence who fist pumped when crossing the finish line - landing with authority as he made his way to the podium area. With his streak of victory now at twenty-four moto's, he seems to be aiming for Ricky Carmichael's record of perfection in the rounds ahead.
