JETT LAWRENCE - GRIT 240 450SX

GRIT-240 | 450 SX

A definitive statement was made by the Honda rookie last week in Detroit. And the Australian strove to reiterate it, while stationed in Glendale, Arizona. The open landscape of this layout would lead many to an assumption of Lawrence destined to thrive, after all, look at what the number eighteen had accomplished on the outdoor circuits in 2023. But there wasn't anything that could be guaranteed amongst a field this competitive, therefore even after he put forth a phenomenal showing in practice, Lawrence returned to the line for heat one where he was alongside an assembly of world-renowned athletes. Bursting across the initial straightaway before diving into the opening corner, Lawrence's positioning within the field wasn't necessarily what was desired for the Australian prospect - emerging fifth as the first full lap of action was completed. And even then, it wasn't as if he were easily moving through the field..where despite working his way around Chase Sexton (before lap two was completed) Lawrence couldn't easily overtake the next opponent...who went by the name of Vince Friese. Friese was riding well, and made the path forward for Lawrence rather difficult, though both athletes were racing with respectful characteristics. Finally making a swift cut to the inside via a turn-down maneuver in the bowl-turn after the finish line (to begin lap four), Lawrence would excel forward via third. By that time though, Ken Roczen and Malcolm Stewart were too far ahead...though the Australian would make a valiant charge to the rear wheel of the Husqvarna rider in the final whoop section. With Lawrence claiming third as all was said and done, he would look for redemption in the race that followed. When the lights were brightest for round six of this AMA Championship, Lawrence portrayed determination when soaring through the opening rhythm section. His starting position was a bit less than "ideal" if you will, where he then subtly collided with Cooper Webb amongst the initial sand section...deterring him to a standing in the latter stages of the top ten. He was relentless in his charge forward though, making passes on opponents like his brother (Hunter), though at times, displaying uncharacteristic mistakes. Jett was then able to make a pass on Cooper Webb with around sixth minutes being completed, just before the mechanics area - sending him to a distant fourth, in the running order. The pursuit of Tomac was on, at that point, and Jett wasn't going to quit until he had (at least) passed the Colorado native...after stalking the rear wheel for multiple laps, a move was made on Lawrence's behalf, in the opening rhythm lane via a brilliant move to the inside. Now third, Jett would have his sights set on race leaders, Jason Anderson and Ken Roczen...but the veteran duo were too far ahead to overcome. Therefore he was solidified in the bronze medal standing as all was said and done...extending his points lead, before preparing for round seven.
