JETT LAWRENCE - GRIT 238 450SX

JETT LAWRENCE | GRIT-238 | 450 SX

Despite the circumstances of last week's event, Jett Lawrence walked to the starting line for main event number one with composure after demonstrating remarkable speed throughout the afternoon in qualification. He was superb amongst the longest rhythm lanes, along with navigating each corner with effortless maneuvering, making his trek into the opening main event a true spectacle to see. Clicking into gear as the night show began, Lawrence's run into the opening corner was full of determination - but a critical mistake in the opening section of jumps, would have him leaping off the racetrack and crashing to the left! It was a race against the clock at that point, where near collisions (including one with Malcolm Stewart) would remind the number eighteen to not override the track...but the Australian prevailed and amassed as many points as possible at the end of this fourteen-lap exhibition; finishing seventh while only a few positions behind Aaron Plessinger. His start to the second moto was slightly better than "mid-pack" and the Australian appeared to sustain a pace just outside of the top five, after a few minutes of action. He had passed Justin Cooper for fourth at one point, before a miscalculation in the latter whoop section deterred him to behind the New York native for just a bit...though he quickly regained the position while focusing on the top three. He would catch Aaron Plessinger with just under two laps remaining, making a brilliant move after the initial whoop section where his blitzing line(s) would allow him to surpass the KTM rider. Though his trajectory through the moguls was a bit sketchy at times, Lawrence made it work. Quickly working his way into fourth, for moto-three, Lawrence would trail Tomac, Sexton, and Aaron Plessinger. Leaping atop the gigantic triple-in/quadruple sequence before the finish-line to overtake "AP," had Jett residing third with just over seven minutes to go. An uncharacteristic move was then made on behalf of Sexton, who arguably allowed Lawrence to work his way to the inside in the corner before the mechanics area...pushing Jett to second with five and a-half minutes on the clock. He attempted to track down Eli, looking across the track on countless occasions to try and nullify the gap that the Colorado native had generated - but it didn't seem to dwindle, and as a result, Lawrence's final surge would be costly; crashing his machine to the ground with only corners to go, where he descended to fourth in the running order and sixth overall!
