JETT LAWRENCE - GRIT 237 450SX

JETT LAWRENCE | GRIT-237 | 450 SX

Despite undergoing a substantial crash on press day, Jett Lawrence was ready to give one-hundred percent effort as festivities began some twenty-four hours later. The gigantic quadruple jump in which he was attempting displayed tremendous confidence, which carried into the qualifying action of Saturday as well. After racing amongst the segments of the circuit with authority, his Honda chassis appeared to be gelling well with the slick surface of the San Diego track...which led to heat one shortly thereafter. Upon leaping from the gate with his patented sense of aggression, Lawrence would obtain a position roughly inside the top five...before accelerating past all of the pack ahead of him, on the outside of the whoops, with one of the most incredible passes seen in quite sometime! He was into the lead, and wasn't willing to let anyone get near him. That was, until the move that sent him forward (i.e. the pass in the whoops) was the mistake that caused his downfall...crashing just minutes later to the right sight of the whoop pad. Now off of the track, and forced knock the mud from his motorcycle, Jett furiously charged as far forward as possible; removing any trickle of fear from his thought process while continuously passing opponents. His push to the front eventually equated to third, respectively, behind Eli Tomac and Malcolm Stewart. For the main event, Jett was eyeing redemption from what had occurred just seven days ago...but the competition was incredibly stiff and the path to the pinnacle of the podium wouldn't be easy. He acquired the inner most gate choice, and was subsequently pinched off when funneling into turn one. He was lingering around or just outside the top ten as the initial corners were undertaken, but made his way into single digits shortly thereafter. After working his way (definitively) past his brother, Dylan Ferrandis, among countless others, it would be a matter of infiltrating the top four with only a few laps remaining for the rookie rider. He stalked the rear tire of Jason Anderson (with just minutes on the clock to go) until an opening was presented in the corner just after the finish line. There were just laps remaining when Lawrence pushed Anderson to the top of the berm, overtaking fourth place once and for all. And form that point onward, it was a matter of staying on two wheels and accumulating as many points as possible. With the championship in mind, he secured a fourth place standing at the finish line...before having words with Jason Anderson, which created another rivalry for the rookie to combat in the coming rounds.
