JETT LAWRENCE - GRIT 229 450MX
August 16, 2023 · Jett Lawrence

JETT LAWRENCE | GRIT-229 | 450MX
Jett Lawrence's phenomenal reign thus far through the 2023 AMA Pro Motocross Championship, would continue as round number nine (of eleven) came to fruition in New Berlin, New York. The younger of the Lawrence brothers would be astounding amid practice sessions, and proceeded to carry a paralleled sense of swagger and confidence into the moto(s) that followed. He and Estonia's Harri Kullas would be fender to fender while contending for the hole-shot of the first moto, with Lawrence showcasing his tenacity with an unwavering sense of throttle twisting. He refused to let go of the right-handed grip before diving into turn-two, and he would accelerate amongst the corners thereafter with the entire pack attempting to mimic his pace. The Australian would lead the field around, while Chase Sexton and Dylan Ferrandis were exhibiting daring speed in their own right. All in the pack would attempt to reenact Lawrence's line selection amongst the valleys, where the red-plate holder would stand atop the foot-pegs with his legs nearly locked, maintaining an attack position while diving into trenches that spanned dozens of yards in length. There would be a charge that was presented on behalf of Sexton, where his Honda teammate would nearly scrape the inside of Lawrence's shroud - as the two dove into a forthcoming line that ran along a roller on the far side of the track! It was arguably the closest anyone had come to truly overtaking Jett (thus far) in his 450cc career, but a brief stalling of momentum would unfortunately be undertaken by Sexton...allowing Jett to evade and pursue an open raceway once again. However, the lapped riders were a bit more "problematic" than usual, with the athletes not being able to cross lanes (due to the multitude of ruts), and would cause Lawrence to slow his pace ever so slightly...which then enabled Dylan Ferrandis to nearly rival the Australian as the two approached the final few corners! However, Lawrence's composure trumped the charge of the French rider in the end, granting Jett the first moto victory before heading into moto two. Once there, the Honda athlete would display exceptional fortitude while blistering amongst the deterred raceway. Though the 450cc field would race first for this respective itinerary of events, the track would still be obliterated with numerous lines that could cause disastrous crashes at any moment. Yet Lawrence never wavered, rising to the occasion throughout the fifteen-lap contest. His command over the field seemed much stronger than in the first moto, where multiple seconds of margin were sustained as the checkered flag became nearer in the closing moments. And as the Australian eventually passed over the final jump, not only would he retain his perfect streak of wins, but also the 450cc MX Championship - which was an honor, that placed him into elite company amongst the greats in the sport!
