JEREMY MARTIN | GRIT-211 | SX 250

Behold, one of (if not the) toughest race on the circuit was upon the 250cc East Coast Championship. Possessing a layout that was as tough as anyone could imagine, with a myriad of soil conditions that had been cast across the immaculate Daytona Speedway infield. Long-time veteran of the division, Jeremy Martin, would acknowledge and respect the track that was in front of him, yet he confidently approached the starting line for practice with means of infiltrating the top-five by nightfall. His expedition to the checkered flag would began with a pummeling of the offset singles that were near the tunnel jump. Doubling and wheel-tapping whenever possible, you could see his outdoor roots flourish as he topped the height of fourth gear with his chassis dancing from side to side. Unbothered while sprinting to the final timing and scoring sensor(s), he would exit the raceway with a combination of beach sand and red-clay plastered to the frame of his bike, proceeding to head to his pit area to get the ClubMX Yamaha machine tuned-up. The following episode of action would be his heat race, where he bolted to a fourth-place standing in the early going while doing his best to stay with the Hunter Lawrence and Jordon Smith, who were leading the pack. Sweeping through the corner that preceded the whoop section his leaning to the right would be a means to keep the bike propelling forward in third gear; immediately rising up for the mogul pad that followed alongside pit row. This track was extremely busy, keeping him standing atop the foot-pegs with his quadricep musculature burning with lactic acid. Which simultaneously proved that he was one of the most fit rider(s) in the field as he barreled to the checkered flag. Walking away from this sprint with the fourth-place position, only the main event was then left to conquer. Firing from the line while doing his best to navigate to the inside, he would have to respect the inside stance that race leaders, Max Anstie, Hunter Lawrence, and Nate Thrasher would accrue. Sand would be spraying every which way and into the crevices of his goggles and helmet, as he tried his best to breathe amongst clouds of roost that were projectile(d) his way! The finish-line section would offer brief bits of airtime with a double and tunnel-jump (just prior), and through the first few minutes, his gap over Haiden Deegan was enough to promote a bit of sustainability; rather than an all-out, erratic blitz to the checkered flag. And even though the rookie was able to make his way around, the veteran wasn't discouraged and showed resilience while continuing to amass laps on this rugged raceway. Established inside the top-five, the only other rider to pass him would be Jordon Smith; whom he followed to the finish-line with a relentless attitude. Categorized in fifth, the performance in Florida for the former motocross champion would be admirable.
