JEREMY MARTIN | GRIT-212 | SX 250
Knowing that every attribute in his arsenal would have to be firing at the highest regard, Jeremy Martin would look onto the track in Indianapolis, eager to demonstrate the utmost precision. His weight distribution aboard the ClubMX Yamaha was a perfect harmony, that could be shifted at any instant as he plowed through the countless ruts on the Indy circuit. This course was like no other, and with his leap into fifth for the conclusion of day-time qualifying, the certainty of an eventual top-five overall was almost tangible. Blasting from the line as his heat race began, he would attempt to forcefully dive to the inner most point of turn number one; though countless riders were doing all in their power to stop him. But shortly thereafter, it was almost as if his race were over before it began; where he and Jace Kessler were amongst multiple riders who were on the ground, and stuck in each other's bikes! He was able to remount and return to action around the seventeenth position, before the red flag was thrown; closing the gap between he and other riders, as racing continued shortly thereafter. Attacking the myriad of sections that followed the mid-race halt, he would keep the Yamaha pinned within the first few minutes of action. His speed in the ninety degree corners before the "SX" triple was noticeably faster than many of his counterparts, pulling from Henry Miller that was behind him as they neared the halfway point. Rounding the outer banks of the corners before the finish-line, his whereabouts would always be known by the field behind him. This led to roughly two minutes of action being set to transpire, where Miller was still keeping him in check, but couldn't seem to infiltrate the fifth-place position that Martin appeared to destined to clench. Running wide-open as powered toward the finish-line, his obtaining of fifth would set the stage for the main event. Laps one and two of the finalé were beyond chaotic, with multiple riders attempting to converge on the same rut, at the same time. This would lead to immense bar-banging and shroud scraping, while he tried to put his front wheel ahead of Cullin Park who was just near. Their pace was admirable, and with being only seconds from race leader, Hunter Lawrence, the thought of clinging onto the leader's pace would be an idea he knew had to be secured. Pushing through the fifth and sixth circuit with flawless race-craft, they marched toward the halfway point with the lines before the finish-line becoming deeper than ever. There were times, when his frame would literally drag the face (of the camelback triple) and force him to seat-hop the obstacle as hard as possible in order to complete it's entirety; which he continued to demonstrate while tracking down both Max Anstie and Haiden Deegan. Overtaking the British rider prior to lap seven, it was now time to pass the number 238 machine; hoping to get a bit of redemption, from their battle in Daytona. Martin was eager at this point while demonstrating an immaculate pace through the ruts; ripping through bowl corners with his Yamaha engine pinned to the highest degree. And he would see an opportunity to overtake Deegan as they sped from the step-on/step-off jump prior to the "SX" triple; leaping to the inside and pushing Haiden wide while capturing fourth before beginning the ninth circuit. Once here, he seemed to establish a pace that was astounding and paralleled to those at the front of the pack. But their initial standing in the earliest of laps, was too much to overcome. Finalized in fourth, the performance in Indianapolis would be a highlighted overall, in his 2023 campaign thus far.
