The Kawasaki rider was eager to continue his recent run of successful results...and Jason Anderson appeared ready (and willing) to engage in the highest speeds necessary to contend with opponents like Chase Sexton and Hunter Lawrence for practice. There was little that could stand in his way from infiltrating the front of the pack in moto-one, and after battling with Justin Cooper for the first few laps of competition, Jason had planted his Kawasaki into the fifth-place residency as they had surpassed ten minutes of racing. However, Honda's Dylan Ferrandis (who was sixth) couldn't be ignored as the New Mexico native leapt through vast elevation changes this track provided. His patented loose-style was on display for the duration of the moto - somehow managing to finesse the motorcycle around the raceway with near erratic (but calculated) maneuvers, all the while flying through countless ruts! It was a delicate/precise practice that only he could conduct, but the Kawasaki rider was doing so with remarkable momentum as the final laps neared. He was aware of how fast Ferrandis was charging, but his pace was enough to keep the Frenchman at bay while storming to the finish line...with Jason earning fifth, as all was finalized. He would upshift from the moment he stormed from the grate in the following round, battling among the top-five before making a pass on Cooper Webb after a few laps of action...inheriting the fourth-place standing as a result. But he couldn't disregard Hunter Lawrence, as the Honda rider would close-in after ten minutes of competition. He kept the Australian at bay, all the while surpassing Ken Roczen - while too, narrowing the gap between he and the second-place competitor (i.e. Dylan Ferrandis). However, Hunter's pace couldn't be ignored...and the number ninety-six would eventually make a rather daring, close-quarter(ed) pass on the Kawasaki rider amid a high-speed rutted section - which put Anderson in fourth, with less than a minute remaining on the clock. Yet Aaron Plessinger was approaching rather quickly, and was going to put forth one-hundred percent effort before the checkered flag was thrown. Despite Anderson exhibiting an excellent line of defense, the offensive output of Aaron Plessinger was an arsenal of traits that couldn't be denied. Therefore, Plessinger would overtake Anderson on the last lap...deterring to Jason to fifth, which still helped him claim fifth overall in the final standings.
