JASON ANDERSON - GRIT 242 450SX
May 18, 2024 · Jason Anderson

GRIT-242 | 450 SX
Kawasaki's Jason Anderson fought with tremendous effort throughout round eight of the Monster Energy Supercross Championship...but the number twenty-one would have a bit more difficulty (than in races past) in regard to contending for a top-tier position on the leaderboard. He was extraordinary in practice, but the number twenty-one was acknowledged in fifth to begin heat two while battling alongside Dylan Ferrandis and Dean Wilson. He would hold fifth for multiple circuits, before losing a position to the Honda rider (i.e. Wilson), and then again, another position to a hard-charging Cooper Webb who was making a brilliant run in the latter stages. Though Anderson wasn't discouraged, and proceeded to put forth a strong effort when scrubbing his way over both "SX" triples, while attempting to track-down the rear wheel of Wilson as the checkered flag waved...eventually concluding the moto in seventh, the New Mexico native was aspiring to get a strong start and initiation, to the main event sequence. A sixteenth was all that could be acquired though as the green flag waved for the finalé, though he had worked his way into tenth by the time lap three came to fruition. On the rear wheel of Malcolm Stewart, an unfortunate mistake in the laps thereafter would divert him to twelfth, where he and Benny Bloss were then fought rivaling each other's machines through the infield. Anderson and Wilson were next to shuffle positions amongst the running order throughout the multitude of switchback lanes on the circuit, with Anderson flourishing on the outside before bombarding his way into the beach(y) sand section...staying light on the rear wheel as if he had returned to the desert of New Mexico. Though he could see Malcolm Stewart ahead at this point, Anderson couldn't acquire enough speed and momentum to overtake the Husqvarna rider - leaving him in a territory of his own pace if you will, while ahead of Beta's Benny Bloss. Leaping through the rutted rhythm lane on the last few circuits, he was aware that overriding this circuit could result in a devastating crash of sorts...which, enabled Jason to stay upright and garner as many points as possible when speeding across the last bit of straightaway the track had to offer. Ultimately finishing ninth, the Kawasaki athlete was still within the hunt for a title as the round of Birmingham comes to fruition in the near future.
