May 18, 2024 · Jason Anderson

GRIT-241 | 450 SX
Kawasaki's Jason Anderson was eyeing the top step of the podium as the green flag waved for practice in Arlington. Though knowing that time(d)-trials weren't points paying by any means, the New Mexico native yearned to established an unbreakable precedent. He would do so, displaying an electric flow amongst challenging rhythm lanes that sent him into heat two with a brilliant starting sequence. Taking the lead immediately after battling with Cooper Webb and Jett Lawrence amid turn one, Anderson would hold the lead for five laps...though amid that run of leading, he felt a vicious slam to the inside of his chassis. It was Jett Lawrence, who had overshot the final double to a rhythm section and proceeded to miscalculate the rear brake application in the corner thereafter! The number twenty-one held strong in the lead though and wouldn't budge despite being pressured from Lawrence and Malcolm Stewart who were approaching rather quickly before the sixth lap concluded...when all of the sudden, the Honda rider returned, while Malcolm Stewart made a pass as well! It was an ultra-quick sequence amongst bowl(ed) turns where Anderson appeared froze in the crossfire - descending to third, where he remained at the finish line. Though the main event wouldn't begin as desired, as a costly mistake would have him twenty-second on the first lap...and forced to move quickly, in order to gain as many points as possible! Steadily working his way into the top-twenty, he would make passes while inheriting positions from riders like Malcolm Stewart who had also crashed and lost time to the leaders. He was into eleventh by the time the halfway point neared, but knew that of Vince Friese (who was ahead) would be difficult to pass. He remained calculated and proceeded to use as many outside lines as possible in order to gain time, all the while taking valuable insides when the occasion warranted it. Immediately after passing the Honda rider though, he and Malcolm Stewart would again partake in a battle...but the number twenty-seven was able to work his way around, which slightly halted Anderson's ascension. Jason was in tenth on the twenty-first lap, and proceeded to stay here, not far behind the Floridian as the final laps came to fruition...and as all concluded in Dallas, Anderson remained in the title hunt via a tenth-place overall at AT&T Stadium.
