JALEK SWOLL - GRIT 243 250SX
May 20, 2024 · Jalek Swoll

GRIT-243 | 250 SX
Watching bulldozers sculpt the track from afar, Triumph's Jalek Swoll knew that he could excel aboard the Birmingham canvas as soon as practice was set to begin. Taking a few moments to survey the landscape, he unleashed a plethora of power as he sped into the finish-line section - lunging for a strong lap-time that would have him well into the night show. Though chasing opponents like Haiden Deegan and Cameron McAdoo, Swoll seemed more ready than ever to combat the best in the division by the time the heat race began. Clicking into gear, he watched as the thirty-second board went sideways, and rapidly shifted while diving into the opening corner with his aspirations on a top-tier position. Residing second in the early going, the feud between he and Honda's Chance Hymas was apparent as they landed from the former "SX" triple (which was now a double, of sorts) and sped into the following section as quickly as possible before binding on both front and rear brake. The expectations that he'd placed on himself forced him to work hard, especially in the later stages as the quarrel for second was palpable. All seemed to be well for the Triumph rider, until roughly two laps remained...when Chance Hymas would cut beneath Swoll, and slam into the inside of his chassis! This knocked Swoll off of the motorcycle amongst a corner not far after the finish-line...forcing him to remount as quickly as possible! Now fifth, Jalek would manage to eventually exit the raceway here, before moving to the main event with a sense of redemption. He rode to the pit area while clay was flung from his motorcycle...stripping his goggles and helmet to prepare for the main event on the horizon. Shortly thereafter, he and his mechanic were locked-in to their respective gate...and after minutes of preparation, the twenty-two riders on the starting grid would converge while slamming amongst handlebars and radiator shrouds in the opening segments. He had to establish a pace, and quickly, if he wanted to replicate the flow of Yamaha's Jeremy Martin who resided in front of him. Through the lanes that crossed the start straightaway, he would skate amongst top-soil before fighting for traction when barreling into corners that were nearly forty-five and ninety-degrees. Blocking the inside(s) from former foe, Chance Hymas who trailed, but remaining on the offensive front as he knew that a considerable amount of the moto was yet to be completed. He pressured the Minnesota native for a significant amount of time, before making his way into third after a brilliant pass on the fifth circuit. A mistake on the on the ninth lap would have him descending in the running order - but then stabilized a pace around the seventh-place position, as the final quarter of the main event came to fruition. At that time, he and Chance Hymas found themselves alongside one another...where a bit of redemption was put forth on Swoll's behalf! A block pass then ensued, resulting in Hymas crashing to the ground while Swoll moved into sixth! Now definitively residing just outside of the top-five, the number thirty-three would race to the line with a sense of determination...taking the aforementioned standing of sixth, after an aggressive effort for this East Coast SX round.
