HUNTER LAWRENCE | GRIT-211 | SX 250
The outdoor prowess of Hunter Lawrence would be showcased as the Daytona SX event came to fruition. Known as a staple at the front of the pack on the MXGP circuit, years ago, Lawrence has continued to transcend through various series on American soil. And by all accounts, would he flourish in practice as he wheel-tapped his way through the multitude of rollers on the track. The whoops were as well, a place to gain significant amounts of time on the competition...and he would succeed as practice came to an end, capturing the pole position before beginning the festivities of heat two. Though Yamaha's Jordon Smith was out to prove a point, and exploded from the line with his 250cc engine pinned to the highest degree. Lawrence seemed to understand the skill(s) that Jordon embodied on this track, watching from afar as the former race winner would plow through the abundance of sand on the infield. Hunter remained smooth, composed, and calculated while leaping through the sector of triples past the finish-line; somehow jumping ridiculous combinations of rhythm, at speeds that were unfathomable to most in the stands! After three laps of pursuing the Star Racing rider with one-hundred percent effort, the door to the lead would open; via a set of set cornering maneuvers in the "s-curves" prior to the finish-line. Racing to the flag, it would be Lawrence who's lead extended multiple bike lengths in the sector(s) that followed, eventually growing to a comfortable margin that no-one could topple. Racing to victory not long thereafter, he would head to the main event with a first-place in hand. For the finalé, Hunter and Nate Thrasher immediately opposed forces; almost coming together in the second turn on the course. They were chasing Tom Vialle, and their aforementioned brief collision would amplify into a climactic clash when they entered the sand section seconds there after...with Thrasher going to the ground! Lawrence would make the move and then have his sights set on the French rider, while Nate would be in last and forced to dig his bike from the sand! Hunter's patience wouldn't last long, as he urgently swept to the inside in the two-way(ed) corner just before the finish-line; making the move stick, before bypassing the green flag! Laps then amounted with his most competitive championship adversaries a bit behind him, all the while rain was beginning to fall upon the Daytona track. Lawrence was unfazed, and continued to collect laps while holding the registry of the top step. One-quarter of the moto, would be followed by the halfway point; which he toppled with esteem, after distancing his machine from Max Anstie (now second) after an early crash from Tom Vialle. Lawrence was flawless, and continued to embody the world-renowned skillset that got him to this point. And in style, he would power through the final laps without mistake, taking a win and accruing a ton of momentum prior to moving forward in the series!
