HENRY MILLER | GRIT-216 | SX 250
Rochester, Minnesota's Henry Miller would generate a remarkable performance while racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway for round thirteen of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series. A long-time competitor of the professional circuit, Miller had accrued quite the resumé in season's past; toggling between both 250cc and 450cc competition as he aspired to obtain as many high-profile(d) finishes as possible. And for 2023, the number sixty-six would decide to compete on the smaller of the two aforementioned machines, battling professional riders of varied experience levels as he hoped to propel his Honda motorcycle as far up the leaderboard as possible. And for Atlanta, his times within the qualification sessions were admirable and enough to immediately list him within heat two; where a seventh-place start would have him between Jace Owen and Jeremy Hand as laps began to progress. He would make the move on the Illinois native (i.e. Owen) prior to lap three being completed, which helped him rise to the sixth-place position behind Chris Blose. He yearned to move forward and around the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider, jumping off the tapered single that was just after the first whoop section and into the straightaway that followed - using every gear possible before descending into the forthcoming right-hander. Ruts were already beginning to chew out the following mogul pad and obstacles before the finish-line, but regardless of how large the groove, Miller wasn't going to slow down. The number sixty-six was steadfast in his pursuit of sixth, which was ultimately where he resided before exiting the raceway. The main event was shortly thereafter, and as temperatures rose throughout the Atlanta afternoon race setting, so too would the aggression of Miller while he charged his way into the top-ten. Beginning in eleventh, he would seek opportunities to make move(s) on his fellow combatants; although he was methodical and would deviate when the time called for it, such as in the second whoop section which was now unrecognizable. Sweeping through the off-cambered single(s) around lap four, he would then pass Talon Hawkins for ninth prior to inheriting positions at the expense of riders crashing. And Miller would simply be completing the task at hand, solely focused on navigating through rugged terrain while Jeremy Martin, and Nate Thrasher would fall victim to troublesome circumstances. Which would lead to the final few moments of action, where he and Chris Blose would pass one another on multiple occasions, which left Miller in seventh with only seconds remaining...but the never-give-up attitude of Henry would prevail overall, as he was solidified in sixth just before passing the finish-line! Earning a highlighted result for his 2023 campaign!
