The racer from Estonia once again generated a tremendous performance for round six of the AMA Pro Motocross Series. KTM's Harri Kullas was acclimated to running at the front of the pack, but appeared to gel with the one-of-a-kind circuit in Michigan as qualification began in the early morning hours. He was exceptional through the deepest portion(s) of soil, showcasing a bit of European, sand technique per se in order to generate traction via the rear tire. This set-up and outlook, would translate to the opening moto of 450cc competition as well, where Kullas obtained a tenth-place starting position and immediately adopted a flow that was paralleled to the leaders of the field. Flying from atop the ski-jump, his line choice in the left and right-handed bends thereafter was next level...where he moved forward, and raced with incredible momentum while accelerating just off of the mid-line of racetrack. It was the subtle details of his race-craft that created immense longevity in the top-ten...diverting from the deepest ruts by mere feet, and linking together inside and outside combinations, that were unforeseen by those in the latter half of the field. He had moved as high as eighth, while keeping Christian Craig, Grant Harlan, and Shane McElrath at bay - and believed that he could sustain this sense of speed, through the checkered flag. Though Christian was able to surpass him in the final segments, Kullas eventual final score of ninth, was applauded by fans near the finish line! In the second moto, he would begin the contest in fourteenth...while hoping to latch onto riders like Chase Sexton and Jason Anderson, for as long as possible. Though the athletes at the top of the field would begin to drift, Kullas remained persistent with his pace - capitalizing on the mistakes of opponents, while using the powder berms on the outside(s) of the track as walls to ricochet from! He, Christian Craig, and Grant Harlan were undergoing a serious battle for the majority of the moto...all the while, veteran Phil Nicoletti was just in front of (them). Therefore Kullas knew that he could stay within a respectable distance from both Phil and Grant, striving for the Yamaha tandem as the checkered flag near. All the while, he would keep Christian Craig at bay...in a tremendous fight, for a final score of twelfth, and ninth overall on the day as well!
