HAIDEN DEEGAN - GRIT 260 250SX

With the championship in mind, Haiden Deegan focused on the game-plan that was needed in order to accumulate the most points while competing on the Unadilla circuit. He had mastered the process thus far, and following morning practice sessions, was on an optimal trajectory to succeed in the two-moto main event program. He would reside around the fourth-place position through the first lap of the opening contest, and Deegan was simultaneously paralleled to third-place rider Max Anstie. The line of defense from Anstie was strong, but Deegan's persistence eventually enabled a window to be opened per se...and the number thirty-eight would make the pass with relentless charging, approximately around the twenty-two minute mark of the moto. Levi Kitchen was now in his sights, and Haiden was aiming for the highest position on the leaderboard...as Honda's Chance Hymas had unfortunately crashed to the side of the track. With second-position then in his grasp, the Californian saw an opportunity in the closing stages, as Kitchen drifted to consecutive outside lines. He (Deegan) then struck...in the left-handed corner before the mechanic's area. The decisive pass was a means to move past once and for all, and Deegan proceeded to throw stylish whips (while defending the latter race charge from the Kawasaki rider) en route to the checkered flag...for a notable moto victory! For round-two, Haiden would reside third after the opening moments of action...with Jo Shimoda and Levi Kitchen just in front of him. Both of those athletes were riding at an exceptional pace, but Deegan seemed to be in total control of what was transpiring with his Yamaha chassis. He was toggling between presenting an all-out charge to the front of the field, while also keeping the championship in mind. This process was showcased throughout the entirety of the moto while he maintained the third-place position, but Deegan would be a recipient of the unfortunate crash via Jo Shimoda which moved the Yamaha rider into second. He then resided here through the checkered flag, seemingly coasting across the finish line to take the runner-up overall accolade for the moto and second overall as well - which was far more than enough to retain the points lead, and increase the distance between he and his championship rivals with Budd's Creek taking place next weekend for round ten of the AMA Pro Motocross series.
