A start that was less than desired would be exhibited by Deegan, where he hovered just within the top-fifteen for the opening sequences of moto-one. However, after making advancements and passing opponents like Coty Schock (before the end of lap-two), he would occupy tenth before attempting to overtake Triumph's Jalek Swoll. Passing Swoll, Casey Cochran (the former amateur rival) was next to surpass...and with the unfortunate endo of sorts that would occur on Cochran's behalf, Deegan was able to make his way into eighth. Passing Nicholas Romano next, Deegan would stand seventh after ten minutes of action. Julien Beaumer (who was sixth) would have a stalling of momentum, enabling Deegan to work forward and occupy sixth, before Haiden would then pass Ryder DiFrancesco. Now fifth, at the halfway point, Tom Vialle was next to approach within the running order. Passing Vialle rather quickly, Deegan then immensely pressured Chance Hymas when nearing the final laps of competition. A brilliant, outside move before the finish-line was conducted by the Californian to overtake third with just over three laps to go...where he then sought to surpass Jo Shimoda! Deegan was launching numerous obstacles on the track and flat-landing, which displayed unbelievable aggression - and would claim the runner-up accolade, definitively, with two laps remaining in the contest. Just before the white flag was thrown, Deegan's move among the hillside was exceptional - overtaking the race lead, with one lap remaining to complete! And with an unbelievable performance, the Yamaha rider had raced from well outside of the top-ten, to claim the race win! His start for the second moto, was roughly around the twentieth position before making his way past a few riders...after crashing amongst an array of inside rollers, and being forced to remount from the back of the field. Though barely in a points paying position, he wouldn't quit...and somehow managed to acquire a single digit position (i.e. ninth), after seven minutes of action! A multitude of veterans were in front of him at that point, but he would make passes on opponents like Levi Kitchen and Joey Savatgy. Pierce Brown was next to be overtaken, just before the anthill/roller initiation...claiming sixth, with Shimoda now above him in the running order. By the eighteen-minute mark, Shimoda had been decisively overtaken, with Tom Vialle next to be approached. Persistent passing attempts were put forth by the Californian, until a mistake which severely limited the momentum of Vialle (just before the largest flyaway jump), would grant Deegan the means to move around! Launching over the unforeseen triple/roller combination shortly thereafter, Haiden appeared to be as confident as ever when now occupying the third-place residency. A brilliant move with only corners remaining was then conducted when sweeping through the wooded area, overtaking Chance Hymas for the runner-up standing. Now with only corners to go, one final lunge was made at surpassing Ty Masterpool! But it was too little too late...and Deegan was forced to second at the line, following a brilliant effort - and second overall, as well.
