HAIDEN DEEGAN - GRIT 243 250SX

GRIT-243 | 250 SX

The Yamaha prospect would have quite the trek to the top-ten as all concluded in Birmingham. Though prepared to combat supposed significant amounts of moisture throughout the day, all in the field were pleasantly surprised to see sunshine as practice sessions carried on amongst the afternoon hours. Deegan excelled amongst all circumstances though, and came barreling into the heat race sequence of events with his sights set on obtaining the lead. However, when speeding into the first turn, both he and Hammaker would come together resulting in a disastrous crash! With both bikes lock together, it seemed like an eternity for the native Californian to become untangled and return to action on the racetrack. In the back of the pack as a result, it was a tireless process of fighting forward despite the enormous gap separating him from an immediate transfer position. Racing to the checkered flag while ultimately trying to receive a top-nine token, Deegan could only return to seventeenth as all concluded. In the LCQ thereafter, Deegan knew that obtaining a transferring designation was of top priority - therefore once into second (behind Seth Hammaker), he seemingly rode to the checkered flag with a comfortable runner-up standing, before moving into the finalé. The gate(s) crashed to the ground for the points paying portion of the night show, and Deegan resided around the thirteenth position...after being pushed off the track before the large, "SX" style double, and unfortunately gaining a bit of time due to the chaos that ensued within the racing lane. This sent the running order into a frenzy, though Deegan persevered and focused on the things he could control. Methodically working his way into the top-ten, he found his way into the tenth-place standing around the ninth circuit...but Deegan wasn't done, and knew that valuable points were on the line. He charged to the rear wheel of Coty Schock, and would follow the Yamaha rider as chance Hymas made a mistake - granting both Yamaha riders a furthered position. As the conclusion of the moto came to fruition, both Deegan and Schock were on a similar trajectory, appearing to compete for seventh as they went into an eventual final turn. Deegan saw an opportunity to dash to the inside, subsequently knocking Schock off-track in the process! This (at the time) looked to have Haiden in seventh...but due to the slight incident that had occurred in the earliest of moments, Deegan's final result was deducted to ninth, respectively.
