HAIDEN DEEGAN GRIT-222 250MX

HAIDEN DEEGAN | GRIT-222 | SX 250

Continuing with his streak of excellent results thus far in 2023, Yamaha's Haiden Deegan would aspire to prove a point as riders launched onto the racetrack at Hangtown. The number 238 had brought the fans to their feet at Fox Raceway last week, and knew he could do much the same after storming around the raceway for practice on Saturday morning in Sacramento. It was shortly thereafter, where he proceeded to engage in one of the strongest performances of his racing career thus far...as an incredible hole-shot would be obtained prior to leading the field around for the first lap of action! The roar of the crowd was undeniable as Deegan jumped down the largest of hills, his engine revving and enthusiasm accompanied by cheering fans in every facet of the raceway! And as a few laps at the front of the field had transpired, it was Haiden who remained composed in the leading designation - almost as if he'd been here, hundreds of times in his career! It was Justin Cooper who was in second, which replicated their day of training at the practice track (with both athletes being on the same Yamaha team). Which appeared to have Deegan in an acclimated environment as they passed through the first ten minutes, and eventually halfway point of the moto. Deegan wasn't wavering, and with roughly five minutes remaining, it appeared as though Cooper was truly trying to overtake the number 238 machine with a final charge of sorts...but Deegan refused to fold! He would actually up his pace (at times) when time became a critical component of this narrative, and with only a few laps to go, it seemed as if Haiden could hang onto victory. And that's exactly what occurred as he sped past the mechanic's area; leaping across the finish line in the seconds thereafter, to solidify his victorious performance at the top of the podium! The second moto was shortly thereafter, and the speed of Deegan was set to be portrayed once more as he quickly moved into the territory of top-six competition. Just behind Chance Hymas, it was a battle of the rookies for quite sometime; until Haiden was able to push forward into the top four with around four laps left in the contest, while striving to pass KTM's Tom Vialle for third in the moto. RJ Hampshire was just behind, and the veteran would pressure Deegan until the final flag was eventually thrown...but the number 238 wasn't going to allow the Husqvarna rider around! It would be Deegan who ultimately took fourth for the moto, and while paired with his first in the initial outing, an incredible third place overall was then his for the taking!
