GUILLEM FARRES GRIT-222 250MX

GUILLEM FARRES | GRIT-222 | SX 250

The formula for success seemed to be found by that of Guillem Farres, after the Pala National had concluded and the series headed to Northern California. He believed that he could replicate the same pace that was shown at round one, for the following week of action as well; and by all means, would be the case as he planted the chassis of his Yamaha 250Fthroughout various corners on the racetrack. His mantra throughout every segment of the raceway was to charge as hard as possible while remaining smooth, which was a fine line to attempt and maneuver...but he managed to do so, prior to flying into the first corner of moto number one where Haiden Deegan led the field around. Justin Cooper was just behind the number 238, with riders like Hunter Lawrence and Farres a bit further back, trying to make their way into podium territory. Though this racetrack would offer a myriad of race lines that promoted passes in a multitude of facets, and Farres' Yamaha was tracking in a superb manner as he swept from outside to outside. With speeds that were heightened due to the outside wall(s), there was little room for error as he launched into the high-speed roller lane; where many would actually sweep to the right side of the takeoff, where he had no choice but to follow the number 128of Tom Vialle on multiple occasions (prior to making the pass on the KTM rider). Bouncing through the braking bumps as he descended from various singles, you could sense that he was searching for the smoothest pathway as he nearly toppled countless yellow track markers...but it was all in a sense of smart race-craft, as he zeroed-in on the checkered flag at the end of the moto. The final five laps, would be a means of out-sprinting that of Viallewho trailed (after they had both been passed by Hunter Lawrence)...and luckily he was able to do what was necessary to claim sixthas the dust settled at the finish line. For moto two, the pace was once again at the highest level; where he could be located around the tenth-place position and just off the pace of the leaders (which included teammate Justin Cooperand Hunter Lawrence). The ruts were now beyond, peg-deep when leaping from the largest of step-downs; where he had to be focused on remaining in a particular groove, all the while defending the inside from a persistent Carson Mumford! It was a tough pattern of movement(s) to follow, but he obliged and kept as much power to the ground as possible...which over the course of thirty-minutes (plus) would eventually lead to an incredible eighth-place position being garnered, for seventh overall!
