GRIT 312 — 450SX — 7th — Garrett Marchbanks
May 2, 2026 · Garrett Marchbanks

When flying over the largest jumps on the Denver course, it was clear that Garrett Marchbanks' confidence was at an extremely high level. Effortless scrubs, and fluid wheel-taps would ensue as he lunged toward the final timing and scoring sensor with unbelievable grit. He was striving to conclude the 2026 tour with an exceptional performance —and by all means, was he on the right track perse, as practice ended. The native of Utah was becoming more acclimated to the 450S division - and he strove to represent the Kawasaki brand to the highest regard, for every lap which was showcased on Saturday. For that of 450SX Heat Two, Marchbanks accelerated into a sixth-place standing, before being surpassed by Malcolm Stewart and Dylan Ferrandis. Marchbanks would try his best to mimic the pace of his veteran competitors, and as time progressed, he wasn't far (in terms of distance) from each of the aforementioned former champions. Though it was on lap seven, when a mistake from Stewart would allow Marchabnks to pass by...giving him (Garrett) seventh. Jordon Smith, who was ahead, was beginning to lessen his pace, however - and as a result, Garrett capitalized on the final circuit, to claim sixth at the finish line! The Utah native would begin the main with a strong start, and prove that he'd been working on his technical abilities behind the gate. He was registered in eighth, before battling amongst a multitude of competitors. Despite veterans of the category, being all around him, Marchbanks knew that he could excel. He, Dean Wilson, Justin Cooper, Christian Craig, and others, were amongst an inseparable pack of contenders that were constantly fighting for position. Many times, on this track, riders would funnel-in to a particular fast line perse with limited options for unorthodox rhythm combinations. Thus, one would have to power across the whoop sections) or through the sand, to really create a sizable gap between he and his adversaries. After drifting to as low as eleventh, Marchbanks maintained a prominent pace toward the end of the contest. He would zero-in, through the scope of his goggle lens, on a pack of high-caliber opponents. With mistakes by Justin Cooper, Dylan Ferrandis, and Cooper Webb, Marchbanks would vault into the eighth-place standing..while also capitalizing on a bit of lessened pace, from that of Barcia - thus from lap twenty-three onward, he occupied seventh, and was registered here upon exiting the raceway. It was a phenomenal performance, at this stage in his career!
