GRIT 312 — 250SX — 9th — Josh Varize
May 2, 2026 · Josh Varize

Intensity was a key component for all within the 250 SX division on Saturday. With the tour coming to a conclusion relatively soon, racers like Josh Varize were eager to put their best foot forward as they stormed onto the track in Colorado. From the moment the green flag waved, he would crest the finish line double before embarking on a series of stellar runs through the berms. Unlike in seasons past, the soil for this particular round would contain quite a bit of moisture. Thus, trenches were established amongst the apexes and especially the exits of each bend, which created quite a troublesome takeoff for many rhythm section patterns in the foreground. Nevertheless, time and time again he would ace the pairings of doubles and triples. which led to a myriad of notable laps as qualifying ended. From there he would shift into gear for heat number two, and as action began it was evident that he was putting his all into scoring an impactful finish. Varize was phenomenal when dashing across the start straightaway, and took the early lead against opponents including Haiden Deegan and Ryder DiFrancesco! Numerous lunges, or passing attempts, were put forth by the aforementioned Yamaha athlete - though for a significant amount of time.
Varize was defending his position rather admirably! It was just before the finish line, with approximately three minutes and fifty-seconds remaining on the clock, when Varize would lose the lead.. though the crowd still applauded the exceptional effort! Not long thereafter, would Ryder also make his way past -and just before the checkered flag, it was Lux Turner who surged ahead. which forced Josh into fourth. At the finish Line, Varize resided here...though the performance, was certainly one to remember!
Once into the main event, all in the field knew that opponents including Haiden Deegan were set to excel. Though Josh's efforts couldn't be disregarded, especially amongst the switchback lanes of the racetrack. He would tap into a bit of an outdoor prowess while residing in a standing of tenth and from there he appeared to be solely focused on bettering his laps through each passing circuit. One by one he would chip away as the clock continued to near toward expiration. Various berms were now slick and hard packed upon exit, forcing him to ride the bike a gear taller than what was encountered in practice. Luckily his knobbies would sink into the canvas, seeming as though there was a little bit less air pressure in the rear wheel than what was often found on East Coast circuits. Though regardless of how his chassis was set up, he would still battle and contend for his position.
Despite being passed, in the early-going by opponents including Robbie Wageman, Carson Mumford, and others, Varize kept his focus planted on the path ahead. He would return with fire of his own, so to speak, and pass Mumford once more, along with that of Parker Ross and Gage Linville throughout certain aspects of the contest! By lap eleven, Varize had planted his machine into ninth-place territory - and ultimately, he remained here through the checkered flag of the contest!
