GRIT 311 — SMX NEXT — 8th — Wyatt Thurman

Racing at this level, with professionalism on the horizon, would require immense focus. Wyatt Thurman

embodied that, and would showcase that attribute while navigating amongst the technical landscape in practice.

His ability to wheelie over small rollers that were placed amid straightaways, and even turns for that matter, was remarkable. His outlook for the main event, regardless of the rainfall that was set to ensue, was certain to be stellar. Thurman had shown his capabilities on the national circuit, through many years of successful results.

Though he understood what was at stake, when stepping-up to the plate, in an event like this. With the main event nearing, Thurman welcomed all variables that were thrown his way...event the unbelievable amount of mud, that was put before him on the Philadelphia circuit. Once clicking into gear, he and the rest of the field then dispersed across the opening straightaway. An immediate clashing of bars, shrouds, and foot-pegs alike ensued -where staying upright was critical. Thurman, managing to acquire an eighth-place standing, knew that he couldn't afford to waste anytime.. therefore he began to put for a myriad of strong laps. Those time(s), would lead to taking positions once held by Will Canaguier IlI and Seth Dennis — though he was simultaneously battling with Kayden Minear and Jesson Turner Jr.. Despite the latter two opponents making their way past, Thurman continued to showcase exceptional line selection amongst the berms of the circuit. He would plant his chassis in a trench with impressive balance, and with a gradual combination of both, acceleration and clutch feathering, Thurman was able to leap into various rhythm lanes when a specific lane was clear. For the final moments of the contest, his line choices would begin to a drift a bit more, to the inner lanes of the track. It was a constant game of chess, where he had to plot his moves accordingly while identifying where his opponents resided, only bike lengths behind him. The checkered flag was then within reach, and Thurman strove to put forth a well-respected performance in front of countless, screaming fans in attendance! As all would conclude for racing in the Northeast, Thurman would carve through the treacherous final corner, and climb atop the finish-line take-off - powering over the summit, to be awarded with a noteworthy eighth-place standing for this SM Next event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania!
