race recap
GRIT 311 — 250SX — 10th — Marshal Weltin
April 25, 2026 · Marshal Weltin

Following last week's event, where Mother Nature would bring a multitude of variables into the equation, many in the industry were estimating that similar conditions were set to be on-tap, for racing in Philadelphia.
Therefore, slight adjustments were made to each motorcycle, in order to adapt to the muddy terrain, if substantial amounts of precipitation were set to fall. Michigan's Marshal Weltin was ready, however, and shifted into gear for practice without hesitation. Once through the qualifying laps, Weltin appeared to be in complete control of his motorcycle. This translated to an excellent initiation to 250SX Heat Two. As the thirty-second board would go sideways, Weltin dashed onto the canvas while doing his best to retain clear vision.
The start
straightaway was absolutely covered with water, though somehow, Weltin soared into a seventh-place standing! In the laps that followed, he would pass Hayes Edwards, though would simultaneously be overtaken by Husqvarna's Daxton Bennick. Weltin wasn't discouraged, and proceeded to charge forward amongst the troublesome waters around the circuit! The timer continued to dwindle closer to zero, and Weltin knew that a top-ten finish could be actualized. Ultimately, Marshal powered to the final corner to claim an admirable standing of seventh, finishing ahead of high-caliber competitors including Pennsylvania's own Gavin Towers. The main event, wasn't long thereafter. Despite significant amounts of rainfall continuously falling on the canvas, Weltin once more plunged onto the treacherous raceway while eventually making his way into the ninth-place standing. With opponents including Russell Buccheri remaining proximal to Weltin's machine, the Michigan native knew he couldn't let-up, in terms of overall output and pace. This would lead to a pivotal moment in the contest, when the race was red-flagged due to an unfortunate crash sustained by another athlete. Therefore, when the race was re-started, athletes would move forward from a single-file on the start straightaway! It was an all-out sprint to the checkered flag from that point onward, and as Weltin battled with opponents such as Jeremy Hand, Bryton Carroll, and many others, he would succeed amongst the energy-zapping contest with a notable outcome. The checkered flag was eventually thrown, and after rounding the final right-handed bend, Marshal would crest the fake-off to the finish-line jump to claim tenth, on the overall leaderboard of this highly competitive 250SX East Coast event in Philadelphia!
