GRIT 304 — 450SX — 6th — Aaron Plessinger
February 28, 2026 · Aaron Plessinger

With a significant portion of the series, now completed, the momentum towards the tour's finale, was now on a constant ascension. Aaron Plessinger knew that every point was valuable, and the round of Daytona was certain to provide a significant shift in the dynamic of the 450 SX category. Knowing what was at stake, he took a few minutes to thoroughly analyze the track as practice rounds began. He monitored other established competitors in the division, including Hunter Lawrence, Cooper Webb, and Eli Tomac. From there, he would build a series of pathways that ultimately led to a notable run of prominent laps, being registered amongst the leaderboard. He seemed pleased with his efforts, though he knew a strong start, to both the finale and forthcoming heat race would have to be engaged if he strove, or aspired to contend at the highest level of the field. As engines would rev for the divisional round, he released the clutch, and surged onto the canvas, with immense determination. The pack was fierce, and racers were within bike lengths of one another, as the green flag waved in the distance. With a relentless spirit, he'd charge toward the concluding double, to capture an early moto standing of approximately fourth. He was extremely fast to begin the contest, and would pass Jordon Smith before a costly mistake (on lap three) would force him into a circuit time, that was more than eleven-seconds slower than his quickest lap! His momentum was seemingly halted amongst the deep, Florida terrain, and after rebounding, he quickly advanced from the sixth-place territory. He surpassed Jordon Smith once more, which led to a notable battle between he and Shane McElrath on the final circuit. They would quarrel over fourth, but with a "slick" series of maneuvers (including remarkable charging, pivoting, and acceleration), he would sneak past McElrath with minimal track remaining...thus, obtaining fourth as the final flag was thrown!
In the main event, he used every bit of the transmission, to acquire a prominent position in the running order. There wasn't much time to breathe or relax on this surface, and as he attacked the raceway, while soaring past the green flag, he woulo reside in a standing of tenth. The start was a bit less than what was desired, but with a remarkable sense of persistence.
Plessinger wasn't going to give-up. He would surpass Christian Craig, as he moved into ninth place. From there, he would overtake a position once held by Shane McElrath. That correlated to eighth, and from there, seventh was obtained after passing Malcolm Stewart! Sixth was within reach as well, and quickly (on lap eight) would Aaron advanced past Garrett Marchbanks! From the eighth lap onward, the Ohio native would display excellent marksmanship while weaving through this deteriorated course. Each sector was accelerated amongst with incredible style, and ultimately, his efforts translated to sixth-place being obtained in the final standings!
