GARRETT MARCHBANKS - GRIT 260 250SX

Though the mid-season move would be tough for many athletes and racing enthusiasts in his position, Kawasaki's Garrett Marchbanks somehow immediately adapted to both, the new brand and class while competing in New York on Saturday. His ability to instantly excel was a testament to his true talent and capabilities on the motorcycle, and as he gathered a standing of thirteenth in practice, the outlook for the Utah native appeared to be positive. A sixth-place standing was occupied in the early stages of moto-one, and he would remain here through the ten-minute mark - only trailing Jalek Swoll by a few seconds, while also generating quite the gap over Yamaha's Daxton Bennick. The battle for fifth among he and Jalek Swoll was quite intense, but Marchbanks was using his size aboard the Kawasaki chassis as a means to control where the 250F would go - diving into certain ruts after pummeling the largest of braking bumps, and using little application of the brakes as a means to continue rolling rather than ever come to a halt. His aptitude on the motorcycle was next level, and many on the fence-line would understand as to why Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki wanted to sign him...and with only four laps remaining in the contest, Marchbanks would figuratively shift into another gear per se...and overtake the athlete aboard the number thirty-three triumph! Both Swoll and he would put forth a phenomenal effort, but it was Marchbanks' desire late in the moto that proved to be the defining trait within his array of skills. Eventually taking fifth-place honors, he would exit the raceway with a feeling of accomplishment before preparing for the next moto. Despite battling near the twentieth-place position to begin the second contest, Marchbanks wasn't going to quit as he relentlessly passed opponents in the field...making his way to the eleventh-place position by the end of the first lap! He had passed riders in bundles, and made quick work of infiltrating the top-ten by the conclusion of the second full circuit. There was little the opposition could do to deter him, especially as he landed from the flyaway tabletop on the far left-side and seemingly found the smallest of edges to work from - sprinting near the boundary of the layout in order to miss braking bumps that had amassed through the valley. He was engaging in the maximum power output of the Kawasaki motor, and making passes simultaneously...including advancements over Jordon Smith, Pierce Brown, and Julien Beaumer. This led to yet again, a battle between he and Triumph's Jalek Swoll...and though the athlete aboard the number thirty-three machine had generated a bit of a gap, Marchbanks refused to settle as he sprinted to the checkered flag...ultimately earning a final position of fifth, for fourth-place overall!
