GARRETT MARCHBANKS | GRIT-230 | 450MX
Continuing on a superb path to the front of the 450cc field, ClubMX Yamaha's Garrett Marchbanks would embody a sensational sense of speed as the Budd's Creek round came to fruition. It was evident that he'd adopted a multitude of lines in practice, and presented his newfound pathways in the opening laps of moto-one; where he battled amongst Justin Barcia, Jett Lawrence, and Jason Anderson for quite sometime, inside the top-five. However, by the time twelve minutes had transpired, Marchbanks had descended to sixth, respectively - though still carrying an exceptional pace, with Dylan Ferrandis now approaching his rear wheel. Though Ferrandis eventually passed him, Marchbanks could see that Cianciarulo was beginning to fade, therefore he engaged in a series of offensive moves to try and overtake the Kawasaki rider. This turning point would occur during the process of laps thirteen and fourteen, where a mistake on behalf of "AC" would cause a slight demise to his results...though Garrett would take advantage. Powering past the mechanic's area as he dashed through the outside berm, he would leap atop the step-up thereafter with the engine revved to its highest extent before flowing into the rollers thereafter. Conducting countless manual maneuvers (through there) as the checkered flag neared, it would be Marchbanks who again rivaled his opponents of factory designation, and eventually secured eighth as the final laps were completed. For moto-two, Marchbanks would be cemented in the eighth-place position; just behind Ty Masterpool, where the two young competitors in the 450cc class would conduct a blistering pace around the rugged circuit otherwise known as Budd's Creek Raceway. Though pressured by Freddie Noren for a brief while, Marchbanks wasn't going to collapse under the pressure from anyone...including a hard-charging Dylan Ferrandis that proceeded to (attempt) to overtake him in the latter stages! But even with that, Marchbanks prowess still shined - while following the number eighty-one to the rear wheel, in which they both proceeded to shorten the gap to Adam Cianciarulo. Cianciarulo would put up quite the fight though, in regard to keeping Masterpool and Marchbanks at distance...but the number thirty-six persevered through the final three laps of action. And as the timer would surpass the thirty-minute mark, Marchbanks remained composed to gather an eighth-place standing in conclusion - which led to eighth overall in the record book, along with a boost of momentum prior to participating in the finalé.
