ELI TOMAC - GRIT 249 450SX

GRIT-249 | 450 SX

June 3rd, 2024 12:00 pm

Following a solid practicing effort in Philadelphia, Eli Tomac immediately blitzed to the front of the field for the opening heat race in this afternoon show. After (briefly) battling with Ty Masterpool for the lead, the Colorado native made his way to the pinnacle of the pack with a forceful leap amid the longest rhythm section. Taking the green flag with command, Eli immediately present a brilliant pace aboard the Yamaha 450 - excelling as he distanced himself ahead of superb competition. This heat race was stacked, but through the first two, and then four circuits of action, there was little that could stand in Tomac's way. His patented sweeping of the outside through the sand was notable, where he applied both clutch and throttle while weighting the rear of the motorcycle and exiting the respective bend with the utmost intensity. This preceded a valiant run in the final half the moto, where it (again) appeared as if the Tomac of old was being presented in front of the packed, grand-stands of the Philadelphia venue. Eventually finalized as the winner, Tomac took the momentum to the main event where his gate chose was pristine. A bit of a delayed jump was nullified with substantial power as he sped down the start straightaway, appearing to have the initial lead until he drifted a bit wide and allowed Jett Lawrence to take over the lead. Now second, it appeared sustained until Cooper Webb made a quick pass after leaping over the latter "SX" triple...and Tomac seemed to relinquish the position (a bit) to the contender for the overall championship. He resided third for a good while, until a miscalculation of speed deterred him from flying through the longest rhythm lane...which enabled Sexton to jump to the right (and around him) while claiming the third place position. Now fourth, a few mistakes within the latter stages (with around three minutes on the clock), enabled Jason Anderson to work his way forward - fighting with all of their might amongst one another, but the Kawasaki rider was powerful enough to claim fourth. Into fifth at this stage, there was little that Tomac could do but oblige to the pace of his opponents. Though his teammate (Cooper Webb) would crash in the final corner, Eli was a bit too far behind as the checkered flag was thrown, to aspire and conquer the further position. Therefore as all concluded in Philadelphia, Eli would reside fifth, respectively.
